Though separated by politics and walls, their experiences reflect a shared determination to protect loved ones and hope for a better future. More than a sightseeing tour, this is a reflective, human encounter with lived history — an invitation to hear real voices and understand Belfast through the perspectives of its women.

5.00I had an exceptional experience on the Troubles tour in Belfast. Barbara and Julie, the guides who shared their personal histories growing up on either side of the political divide, were fantastic! The earpiece provided for the segment on the Irish Republican perspective was particularly helpful. I gained profound insights into the political conflict and the violence from paramilitaries on both sides from the 60s to the late 90s. I was especially struck by the crucial roles women played in both communities, not just in providing for their families but also in facilitating the peace process, especially during the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. This tour is one of the best walking experiences I’ve had, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history. It's a must-do!

5.00What a privilege to learn so much from two contrasting women's perspective of life in the 60s to the present day! To actually walk along The Falls and Shanklin Roads (something I never imagined I would ever do) ; and hear reflections of their journeys throughout this time was truly humbling. As a child growing up during this period much of my own knowledge of these two communities came mainly from the media! This 3 hour walk personally gave me the opportunity to reflect on, and understand some of the effects it has had (and continues to have) on these ladies and their families lives. Sadly, across the world we continue to live with inequality, injustice, hatred and war. Many, many children, like these ladies, will experience a plethora of terrifying experiences including fear, loss, anger and death. Continue to share your stories ladies and there is hope. Walls are a man made construct its women's strength that will ensure bridges to the future. Ps Belfast is locally known as having 4 seasons in a day dress appropriately for all eventualities! The head phones are an absolute must to ensure both stories can be fully heard.
If you are going to do one thing in Belfast, do this.

One of the best walking tours myself and my friend have ever been on. Would recommend to absolutely everyone. No visit in Belfast is complete without knowing how we got here.

5.00I took the tour that was led by 2 women. I'd taken the other a few years ago and it's also very good. This however is exceptional. Barbara guided us thru the falls road telling very personal stories, sharing her perspective of like during The Troubles. This was very moving and rewarding. Julie guided the second half down shankhill road and shared her own personal stories. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in Irish history and anyone who wants to understand more about The Troubles. I found this tour to be more contextualized than others.

5.00The walking tour and information divulged was a real unique experience. Our guide Barbara was second to none l. Sharing her own experiences through the troubles were unbelievable. Barbara’s story is of significant historic importance, to be given a person for such as her to share the facts was something very special. This was one of the highlights of our weekend and for my partner Liam, it gave a great sense of pride walking the falls road tour with a deeper appreciation for his heritage, faith and love for being Irish. 5.00Great tour. Barbara very knowledgeable and passionate about what happened in the summer of 1969 before and after. We all enjoyed the narratives and stories especially my cousins from the US who found it fascinating. Recommended.

Walked Falls Road and surrounding areas and learned about the history of the troubles, key players and the nationalist point of view. Highly recommend this walking tour for an intimate up-close experience. Ends with a visit to the Republic Museum which is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of the Nationalist movement in Northern Ireland.
