Loch Ness
As we leave Inverness behind, the Highlands’ most famous waters appear: Loch Ness. We’ll hug the shoreline while your guide brings the legend to life—tales of sightings, science, and a sprinkle of mischief—eyes peeled for her!
Eilean Donan Castle
Our first stop is at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. This castle is instantly recognisable the world-over as it has featured in many films and innumerable Scottish souvenirs! We will stop at our favourite vantage point here to enable you to take some photos and admire the majestic beauty of this iconic sight in its wonderful coastal location. Please note that there will NOT be an opportunity to visit the castle.

Our guide, Tim, was great. He drove the mini coach while telling us all about the Scottish highlands and even sang us a song or two (lovely singing voice). The weather was perfect - not a guarantee, I know - and the whole day was perfect. Lots of time sitting, but the countryside is so gorgeous you don't even mind. Ample restroom stops and even time for a bit of shopping. Would highly recommend this to those visiting Scotland without a car.

A full day tour, there was a lot of time in transit, but Murdoch's stories gave us reason to be back in the mini-bus on time at each stop and we were often ahead of the other companies. The packed lunch, pre-ordered from the Isle of Skye bakery as we boarded in Inverness, was well-timed for pickup, and delicious. Much appreciated for the cooperation with this Portree gem. We felt safe in Murdoch's hands at the wheel, and very much enjoyed his humour and story-telling skills.

I did the Skye-Tour from Inverness at the end of September as a solo traveller. At first I wanted to book one of the cheaper tours, but since I really wanted to see the fairy pools and a lot of tours don't include them, I chose WOW Scotland. And I am really glad I did! Andrew, our tour guide that day, has a dry, slightly dark sense of humor and told us about the sights, castles and of course the Loch Ness monster in a very fun and entertaining way. Every now and then we had some time to just enjoy the beautiful view while listening to music or talk to each other, so we weren’t being talked at all the time, which I personally really liked. I was expecting that sitting on the bus for so many hours would get tiring, but the regular photo stops made it much easier. We got to stretch our legs, get some fresh air and admire the stunning views before heading on, which was really nice. The only tough part was the ride back: sitting on the bus the few hours from Skye to Inverness with only one stop felt quite long. But that is simply due to sitting for a long time and has nothing to do with the tour itself or the bus seats, which actually were quite comfortable. But for everyone who, like me, is 1,80 m/6 feet or taller, I highly recommend booking one of the seats with more leg room. I did and had no problems sitting for hours on the bus, but I also tried sitting in one of the "normal" seats and my knees were pressed to the seat in front of me. Sitting there as a tall person for 8+ hours would have been extremely uncomfortable. In Portree we had some time to walk through the city. Andrew also told us about a view point from where you have a great view over the harbour and sea, so this is where a few others and I went. It might have been nice to have a bit more time in the city, but since we still had a lot more places to visit it's understandable that we only stayed there for a short lunch break. Regarding lunch: you can, of course, bring your own, but at the start of the tour there’s also an option to pre-order lunch from the Baking Company via a QR code. Maybe because it was the end of September there were only about four different rolls to choose from (with additional sides or so, but I don't remember the exact options given). Personally, none of them really appealed to me, so I was glad I’d brought my own food. It would have been nice to know at least a day in advance what the available options would be, to plan accordingly and perhaps avoid some disappointment for those planning to order through the tour and maybe expecting a bit more variety. But again, since you can also bring your own lunch or buy it before the tour starts at the shops at the meeting point, there are more than enough options to make sure you have something to eat :) During the tour, there was an unexpected situation that required a change of driver during our break in Portree. I really appreciated how professionally the company handled it: instead of cancelling the tour (which would have been sad but entirely understandable, and probably what many other companies would have done), Gordon, the owner of the company, quickly drove all the way from Inverness to take over, allowing us to continue our journey as planned. I’m really grateful to both Andrew and Gordon for the way they managed the situation. While we didn’t get to see the Highland cows, we visited all the other places listed on the itinerary. The weather was sunny and beautiful, and there were hardly any other visitors at the stops so we could really enjoy the scenery and had plenty of time and space for photos. I honestly can’t emphasize enough how beautiful this day was. The unexpectedly sunny weather made everything look even more breathtaking than it already is, but the guides also played a huge role. They made sure we got the best views of each spot and shared so many fascinating facts about the sights, the islands, and Scotland’s history that you start to see the area with new eyes. We had about an hour or so to walk along the fairy pools along the river and it was really amazing how clear the water was and how picturesque the whole scenery (with the small waterfalls and surrounding hills) looked. I really enjoyed the whole tour and took home lots of beautiful memories (and pictures, of course!) as well as new knowledge about this part of Scotland. I can highly recommend the WOW Scotland tour, especially if you want to see the Fairy Pools, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Scotland. A big thank you to Andrew, Gordon, and the whole WOW team for making this tour possible! I wish all of you the very best!

We had a fantastic day tour of the Isle of Skye! It was unbelievable the amount of history that Andrew shared with us to keep the long journey to and from Inverness entertaining and informative. We saw most of the highlights of Skye and had a wonderful packed lunch. The weather was not good on the day that we went so we skipped the hike to the Fairy Pools (unlike most of rest of our tour mates) and Andrew kept us company by chatting and feeding birds in the car park. I would highly rate this tour company for this tour!

In the fall dress warm. Maybe bring an umbrella. In July and August be aware of invisible pesty nats that will eat you alive. It’s a long day from Inverness but well worth viewing God’s creation. Superb bus driver with lots of great stories.

Murdoch, our guide, was amazing. Kept us entertained for the full 12 hours with his impressive storytelling skills. The Scottie history lesson was equally as good. Also having a preordered lunch by Lisa from Skye was so smart. Her sandwiches are excellent!

Murdoch and the tour company gave the best tour we’ve experienced and we’ve done many around the world. Murdoch’s story telling, humor, and knowledge made it by far the best experience.

I chose this tour as this is the only tour that offers both Isle of Skye and Fairy pools. My partner and I enjoyed every second of this trip. Murduch Mr Fabulous is filled with wisdom and knowledge. I learned so much about Scotland’s history. Highly recommended tour.
