Tikal National Park
Upon arrival at Flores Airport, you'll be driven to Tikal National Park (Parque Nacional Tikal), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an area of more than 341 square miles (550 sq km), this national park contains thousands of separate ruin structures scattered around, each full of fascinating history. Visit the Mayan ruins with your expert guide and explore everything from the Central Acropolis, a maze of courtyards and small temples, to Complex Q and R, where you'll see twin pyramid complexes with altars set in front of the temples. Visit the massive Temple I, the Temple of the Grand Jaguar. Across the way, visit the equally beautiful Temple II, the Temple of the Masks. Next, enjoy a delicious lunch at Tikal National Park before having some free time. Then, head back to the Flores airport to begin your transfer back to Guatemala City.
Temple I
Your guide will show you Temple I, located in the Great Plaza, it is also known as the Temple of the Gran Jaguar because of a lintel that represents a king sitting upon a jaguar throne. Temple I is a typically Petén-styled limestone stepped pyramid structure that is dated to approximately 732 AD.

I took two flights the same day with the idea of seeing a spectacular landscape; I was NOT disappointed. Tikal is magical. Huge, in the middle of the jungle, and with an amazing guide (Luis), I learned a lot about Mayan culture. Recommended!

Simply a great trip! Hotel pick-up and drop off went flawlessly; once we arrived in Flores, our mini bus was new, very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. Sergio, our Guide, and Oscar, our driver, were both great, and Sergio was very knowledgeable about the area and Tikal. Lucy was a plus as well! Overall well worth the money and a must do tour for anyone interested Mayan culture and life.

Everything went commonly from the hotel pick up and drop off to the tour itself. Saw and climbed a lot of pyramids. They are safe to climb with wooden stairs. Be aware that there’s a lot of walking and the tour is both English and Spanish. Also, the lunch was very good at a hotel restaurant in the Tikal National Park.

This was my wife's & my second visit to Tikal. Our group this time was larger than before, but was very enjoyable do to how much our guides knew. This tour does include lunch on site of traditional Guatemalan cuisine which doesn't disappoint. We were able to climb the stairs of all the open temples that they had. This was different from 18 years ago when we were able to climb the stone steps themselves. However, this did make it easier to get to the top as the wooden stairs aren't as steep as the temple steps themselves. If you can swing the time and cost of this trip, it is well worth it.

There were only four of us in the tour. Our guide, Sergio, was excellent. He suggested getting a ride on the truck from the parking lot up to the ruins. This saved over a half our walk, each way. Take cash for driver tip. The ruins were magnificent and you wonder as you gaze at the landscape to the hills surrounded how many more are villages. We saw spider monkeys! Lunch was excellent. You spend quite a bit of time at the airports. Overall, I highly recommend. Remember sunscreen and bug spray.

This was a well-organized TripAdvisor tour. The visit to Tikal was amazing, everything was well organized: the trip by air, transport to and from hotel, the meal. Communication was timely. Our guide was well versed & knowledgeable. Pack your bags and make it happen!
