Hozomon
Standing majestically before the main hall, this grand two-story gate is guarded by two fierce Nio statues—protectors of the temple’s sacred inner grounds. On the back of the gate, you will find a pair of massive "O-waraji" (giant straw sandals) weighing 500 kilograms each, hung as a symbolic deterrent to ward off evil. Originally built to store precious Buddhist scriptures, the gate is beautifully illuminated at night, offering a stunning, spiritual atmosphere that contrasts with the vibrant energy of the day.

We had a very nice time walking around Senso ji temple area. Our guide, Montonori was very nice and helpful. We went in the morning so it wasn’t very crowded.

We, Father and son (5 year old) had an amazing time. As foreigners, Having a guide tell us about the history and all the customs around the temple and shrine was great so we can learn more than we would have walking around by ourselves.

Went on a tour through the area with the wonderful host Yoshi, she was an amazing guide, so kind, attentive and very knowledgeable. It’s worth touring this area with a guide! She showed us the local food and treats, helped me to purchase a beautiful kimono and taught us the locals traditions!

A nice short tour where they teach you the significance of the temple and shrines. They taught us the history behind it and how to be respectful of local traditions.
