Shinjuku Sumo Club
Visitors will step into a traditional-style venue in Shinjuku, where two real sumo wrestlers bring Japan’s ancient sport to life through powerful matches and entertaining demonstrations. You’ll learn the meaning behind sumo’s sacred rituals—such as the salt throwing, ring stomping, and pre-match ceremonies—while a bilingual host explains everything in an easy and fun way. After watching the wrestlers clash in the ring, guests will have the chance to step onto the dohyō (sumo ring) and try a friendly sumo challenge for themselves. You can also take photos with the wrestlers, ask questions, and enjoy a close-up view of the impressive size, strength, and personality of real sumo athletes. This is more than a show—it’s a hands-on cultural experience that lets you see, learn, and feel what makes sumo such an important part of Japanese tradition.

Excellent, far better than I anticipated, the host was great and sumo routine was both informative and funny especially with the audience participation Shinjuku Sumo club was well worth the visit. Costing about $115 au and running around 1hr and a half, my partner wanted to book another tour similar

Was a bit disappointed when I got there and found it was not what I had envisioned my head. That was quickly turned around as I had such a great time learning about the sport and the wrestlers were very funny and entertaining. Everyone left the show smiling! Definitely something I will do again when I come back.

The show was a ton of fun! Lots of crowd interaction and learned a lot about the history of sumo, while seeing some great sumo action. The wrestlers and the emcee were very entertaining. One of the best things we have done in Tokyo!!
