This was our second food tour with Rachel. ( 1st was Saffron Walden about a year ago). In both cases her knowledge of the history ,coloured by local anecdotes, shone through. We visited at least 8 venues, sampling delicious food along the way, generally chatting with the owners or staff. The variety of locations was great, and the quality of food was varied, tasty, and VERY generous! Would highly recommend!

I attended the Saffron Walden Food Tour with my parents in December, and it genuinely exceeded my expectations. Rachel was an excellent guide – incredibly knowledgeable about Saffron Walden, its history, and of course all things food. She struck the perfect balance between storytelling and local insight, which made the whole experience feel rich and engaging rather than rushed or touristy. We were taken to some fantastic local eateries, where we sampled a generous amount of delicious food along the way - far more than I expected. It was a lovely way to explore the town, support local businesses, and discover places we might not otherwise have tried. I’ve been raving about this tour to everyone I’ve spoken to since, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to both locals and visitors alike. A brilliant experience from start to finish.

I live in Saffron Walden with my husband and had 4 friends visiting from London for the weekend. I convinced them to come early on Friday morning so we could do the food walking tour with Rachel. The tour was amazing in so many ways. Rachel was enthusiastic, authentic and fun. She brought a depth of knowledge about the town and the area and provided interesting historical facts as well as telling the stories of the various venues / people that we visiting. The different food venues were lovely and the owners gave us attention as well as drawing us into their stories, even for just a while. The food was delicious in every venue. We bought bread and fish and will certainly return for more. A thoroughly memorable experience. Thank you, Rachel.

As a foreign visitor, this tour was an exceptional experience, providing me with a wealth of knowledge. It offered us the opportunity to sample exquisite local cuisine from Saffron Walden's restaurants, grocers, and even the most remarkable fishmonger. The chefs there craft delectable dishes utilizing fresh, local ingredients, surpassing the traditional recipes we are accustomed to. The treacle trout from "Saffron Fish" was exceptionally flavorful and ideal for dinner parties. The poached egg served atop a bed of sweet potato, kale, and avocado at "Grass & Goat" was a resounding success. Additionally, the chicken and waffles at "Waffle & Company" presented a delightful fusion of savory and sweet, providing a novel and delectable experience. These culinary delights were particularly noteworthy, especially considering our exceptional host, "Rachel," who shared the captivating history of her hometown, which was an invaluable addition to the tour.

Could not get over what a great time we had! The whole tour was so well organised from the emails before to the day itself and the thoughtful follow up after. I was also impressed by how well my gluten free diet was accommodated.

Having received a voucher for Hello Food Tours, we booked a tour of Saffron Walden, a town we often visit. Rachel introduced our small group to a number of places we had not tried before for generous tastings of delicious food and drink. She clearly knew her venues and owners and provided us with well balanced background on the food, the venue with an interesting amount of history on Saffron Walden itself. We really did enjoy this event and actually followed up by booking a long weekend stay in Saffron Walden so that we can return to some of the venues we tried.

Eat and drink your way through pretty Saffron Walden! A delicious and very interesting way to learn about this market town. I joined Rachel on one of her food tours in Saffron Walden last Thursday, a place I called home many years ago. Over the last 16 years, there has been a significant transformation here. Once a sleepy market town with many chain coffee shops, it has now become a foodie heaven where coffee roasters, a bean-to-bar chocolate artisan, and a craft beer bar are amongst many excellent foodie businesses which have settled here. Of course, you can trail around Saffron Walden yourself, but it is much better with the guidance of a foodie who not only introduces you to delicious food and the owners of carefully selected businesses, but also shares the local history of the area you are visiting. I highly recommend joining this tour, having eaten my way around the world on many food tours, and I might even return with a friend or join Rachel's Bishop Stortford food tour.
