We had an amazing food tour with Maria. She was very personable, very knowledgeable, so kind and genuine and cheerful and friendly. She took us to many places that we love. She spent a lot of time answering all of our questions about Greek food, Greek culture, Greek education, Greek politics. We loved the pastry shop. She took us to We especially loved the olive oil tasting. She showered us with gifts and treats at the very end. Lunch at the very end was wonderful and delicious. She gave us a large clump of grapes to take home. We can’t say enough about what a professional Maria is. She also spent one extra hour with us!

My young adult daughters and I had an amazing time with Maria. She spent 6 hours with us during which she shared her love of Greece, its history, traditions, culture and food. Nothing was rushed. The olive oil and wine tasting were particularly memorable and by the end of a leisurely lunch we felt like we had spent a day with a friend who had introduced us to her friends. Very highly recommend. Do not hesitate!

Wow, what an amazing day we had on the food tour yesterday. Maria is the perfect guide, she is welcoming, knowledgeable passionate and fun! The quality of the food and drink we had was just the best. The experience was really good value, so if you're thinking of booking don't hesitate! We wish we'd booked earlier in our week holiday so that we could squeeze another day in with the wonderful Maria. The tour has been the highlight of our holiday!

We discovered and learned a lot regarding Greece, the Peloponese, family and food! Maria was an incredible guide ! We met experts and local business owners and came back home with unique souvenirs and gifts to continue our Greece experience home! We met a butcher, a coffee shop owner, experienced an incredible olive oil tasting, met a wine producer, an incredible baker and all family owned businesses. Maria is a incredible human being, a truly knowledgeable guide and an inspiring business woman. Don’t miss this experience if you’re in Kalamata !

A Must-Do in Kalamata! This tour with Maria of Mama’s Flavours was the highlight of our trip! She’s warm, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about Greek food and culture. We tasted incredible local delicacies, sipped delicious wines, and learned so much about olive oil—it was eye-opening and delicious! Maria makes you feel like family, introducing you to hidden gems and the people behind the products. It’s more than a tour—it’s a rich cultural experience full of flavor, laughter, and love. Highly recommended—come hungry and leave inspired!

Maria was knowledgeable and the most polite guide. Her connection with the local retailers was paramount and it was evident that her relationship was in full respect for each other. Maria’s balance of educational experience and food knowledge was very apparent. I would definitely recommend her for any tour taken in the Kalamata area.

ATTENTION: ALL TRAVELERS SHOULD ATTEND One of these tours. This was the most memorable experience in our visit to Greece. In 2024 we spoke on the phone with a gentleman from our Papou's village in the mountains above Kalamata. We had his name and number that we shared before we arrived in Kalamata a few weeks ago with Maria and she "took off" at high speed and coordinated a lunch for us with this gentleman; obtained photos and information about the family tree; and acted as an interpreter for the non-speaking Greeks on our trip. WOW!!! Professional = A+; Knowledge of Kalamata= A+; Energy = A+ Book a tour and you will always remember the experience!! P.S. - We bought a small jar of honey at one of the stores that we visited with her and it is the best honey that I have ever had. We should have bought a gallon. I guess we need to come back for another visit next year!! Yasas!!

Maria was amazing in many ways! We are lucky and thankful to have met her in our journey in Greece. She was wonderfully supportive and shared a thorough, welcoming, and uplifting food tour. We so appreciate that she introduced us to Greek Mountain Tea and kindly, respectfully advocated for us when we also had to make a stop at the pharmacy. This truly represents customizing on a private tour, especially since we came into this knowing little Greek language. Highlights of the food tour were absolutely the olive oil shop & tasting, the twice-baked bread snack discovered (this snack was awesome - gladly got extra!), Maria’s radiance and kindness shared in the community and with us, the cafe stop, and learning of the Kalamata Farmers Market through her website. Even though we did the Farmers Market visit on a separate day, we enjoyed several great foods from that Market, including awesome apples, eggs, tomatoes, honey, avocado, cucumber, pumpkin, and local cheese. We would happily recommend Maria to friends & family— grateful to have felt all the more immersed and welcomed in Kalamata and Greece thanks to her thoughtful and enthused spirit for food & people. Bravo! 🙏😊😊🕊️🫒

Outstanding food tour! Mama's Flavours (Social Cooperative Enterprise Hippolyte) was a wonderful discovery for us during our trip to Greece. The food tour itself was great, with well chosen spots to sample food and no pressure to buy anything. I am sure that all of her tours are equally wonderful. You could tell that everyone liked Maria. I really want to emphasize how incredible Maria is. She runs the business, but for us, it was also as if we had a personal friend in town - helping us with various questions even before we had our tour. She’s like an ambassador for Kalamata (& her home region of Lefkada Island). Maria has a radiant and bright enthusiasm, she is full of heart yet still grounded and resourceful. We are honestly considering returning to Kalamata, or visiting Lefkada, just to do another tour with her. Our trip to Kalamata was a month ago, and there are four things we miss most: The salads, the natural beauty, Maria, and the Moussaka. Differentiating between the four is hard, but if we came back for only one thing, it’d be Maria’s tours. And also the salads.
