This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. In your 1 hour 30 minute traditional Kenyan cooking class learn to cook a home-cooked kikuyu meal. You will cook a traditional kikuyu meal using my Maggie's family recipes. Learn to make chapati (flatbread) and beef stew with peas from scratch. Maggie will also share useful tips and tricks that she learned from her mother. After cooking, share the meal you helped prepare. If you choose the optional market tour, please meet Maggie at her home and then walk together to Kitengela market. It is a one stop shop for all your vegetables, fruits, grains and spices. This is a busy, local market and Maggie will guide you through it, so that you can shop for fresh, local, seasonal ingredients for your cooking class. Its a great way to be part of the chaos in the daily lives of locals and get insight into the local produce grown there.
