3.00San Salvador does not have any beaches because it is in the mainland. Playa El Cocal is the best beach, near la Libertad, about a 5-minute drive north. Playa Menzual is not a very good beach because of the black lava sand and the venues go well into the beach areas. La Libertad and the areas south are not very bad, until you get to playa San Diego. Playa el tunco has great scenic views but is extremely rocky. Playa Sunzal and north are much better beaches but are either private areas or very remote.
