Our 100-year-old townhouse offers an authentic calligraphy experience.
From basic brush strokes to your own final piece,
a local calligraphy master will guide you step by step with care.
Please note:
On Thursdays and Saturdays after 3:00 PM,
our local calligraphy class is in session, so you may occasionally see Japanese children nearby.
This experience uses materials that contain animal-derived components.

What To Expect
＝＝ Program Flow – Approx. 60 min ＝＝ 1. Learn Tools & Basic Strokes 15 min We’ll introduce the traditional calligraphy tools. After learning how to hold the brush, you’ll practice basic strokes like straight lines and curves. 2. Pick a Word & Practice 15 min Choose a character or word you like. The master will show you how to write it and gently guide you through practice. 3. Let’s Make Your Final Calligraphy! 20 min Now it’s time to create your one and only masterpiece. Take a deep breath, relax, and write with a Zen spirit. 4. Done! 10 min Stamp your work with your seal to complete it. Take photos and bring home a special memory of Japan.

5.00We extremely enjoyed our calligraphy session. You both were very helpful throughout the lessons due to which we were able to grasp and create such a beautiful masterpiece. We enjoyed having conversations with you about Anime and Japanese cartoon. We loved the origami pieces made by your student. We look forward to coming again soon with more of our friends for another calligraphy class.

We liked the course that allowed us to do our calligraphy on roller (or fan, of your choice), the course is well thought out, it allowed us to train in a pedagogical way before embarking on our final realization! 5.00Excellent cultural experience in Culture Lab Nomachi - Kanazawa. 40 minutes of total relaxation while learning and creating our own Japanese calligraphy poster. An authentic space to connect with art and tradition. Highly recommended. They speak English and are very friendly with tourists.
