Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Tegalalang Rice Terrace is one of Bali’s most iconic and photogenic landscapes, located just north of Ubud. Famous for its lush, green terraced rice fields carved into the hillside, this UNESCO-listed site offers breathtaking views of traditional Balinese agriculture in action. The rice terraces are part of the ancient subak irrigation system, which dates back to the 9th century and reflects the Balinese philosophy of harmony between humans, nature, and the spiritual.
Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Bali, located in the village of Tampaksiring, near Ubud. Built in 962 A.D., this temple is famous for its holy spring water, which Balinese Hindus believe to have purifying and healing properties. The name Tirta Empul means “holy water spring” in Balinese. The temple is centered around a large stone bathing pool fed by a natural spring, where both locals and visitors take part in a traditional melukat purification ritual.
