It is ideal to book at least 3-6 months in advance as gorilla permits are in very high demand.

Prepare for the physical and mental strain. The ten day trip is exhilarating but can also be physically and mentally draining (very early mornings, long drives, long hikes, new food, often no cell signal or internet access, constantly on the move, varying accommodation conditions and on rare occasions, no hot showers).

Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary
3 hour guided nature walk in the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, the home of the Great Blue Turaco and over 200 other species of birds including Hornbills, Turacos, Parrots, Cranes and Kingfishers. The sanctuary is also home to 8 species of primates, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus and Red Tailed monkey.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Breakfast and 15 min walk to Rushaga ranger station. Ranger briefing and hike through impenetrable forest with experienced ranger (anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, but normally no more than 2 hours) in search of assigned gorilla family. 1 hour with gorillas then return to lodge for lunch & shower.
Late afternoon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi and check in at hotel (Rock Resort). Evening motorised canoe ride on lake Bunyonyi before dinner and overnight stay.
