Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai)
The Big Buddha of Koh Samui, also known as Wat Phra Yai, is a prominent landmark on a small island off Koh Samui’s northeast coast. Standing 12 meters tall, this golden statue of Lord Buddha is visible from kilometers away. Depicting Buddha in a seated position, it symbolizes meditation and steadfastness. Visitors ascend a staircase flanked by dragons to reach the statue, where they are rewarded with panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand. The site features various shrines and smaller statues, offering a serene atmosphere for both worship and exploration. The Big Buddha is a cultural icon and a major tourist attraction, embodying the island's spiritual heritage.
Wat Plai Laem
Wat Plai Laem is a stunning Buddhist temple complex located on the northeast coast of Koh Samui, Thailand. Renowned for its vibrant and intricate architecture, the temple offers a unique blend of traditional and modern Thai artistry. The main attraction is the striking statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, which stands 18 meters tall and features multiple arms, symbolizing her ability to help many people simultaneously. The temple grounds are adorned with colorful murals and elaborate sculptures, including a large, serene Buddha statue in a Chinese-style pavilion

There were only 4 of us in our group. Peach was our driver/guide and he was amazing. He was kind and considerate of our needs and requests. His communication was excellent and he was willing to share many details about his life in Thailand. I’d highly, highly recommend this tour.

I’m on a cruise for the day and wanted to see as much as possible. Was happy with the tour. Was able to see the entire island with all its different parts. I wish we had been more insistent or clear maybe that we wanted to go to a local vendor market. If that’s your thing then ask to go to one on the South side of the island. We ended up at a very touristy mall which isn’t what we were looking for as a shopping destination but it was a very small thing. Overall our guide kept us safe, was knowledgeable, and I loved that he recommended a bonus stop at another temple instead of us scrambling over slippery rocks as our original itinerary had us doing. We also got to drive through the airport which for us was a highlight of the tour! We enjoyed the entire experience and would book again! The van was comfortable, air conditioning worked, water was provided, and bathrooms found when we needed them.

We had trouble disembarking since it was a tender port and the seas were rough. We finally made it ashore 3 hours later than we anticipated. Communication with the company was excellent and when we finally got ashore, Yankee (yes, that is his given name) was waiting patiently for us. He provided us with an absolutely fabulous tour of Ko Samui providing excellent insights to everything we saw. To say we were impressed is an understatement! By the conclusion of the tour, we felt that we had a better understanding of Thai culture and the unique perspectives of the people of Ko Samui.
