The Belgrade Fortress
Many legends surround the Roman Well, one of Belgrade’s most mysterious attractions, built at the beginning of the 18th century, during the baroque reconstruction of the fortress. The well is 51m deep, with 3m in diameter and two spiral staircases that connect at a depth of about 35 meters forming a DNA-like shape. Alfred Hitchcock visited the well in 1964 and said that an environment like that was always a treat for him. A military bunker takes us into the mid-50s and the period of the Cold War. The bunker was never used for its original purpose.
Barutana
The Austrian gunpowder storehouse also known as Barutana is a man-made cave, built in the 16th century. We will show you Byzantine and Roman sarcophagi, gravestones, and statues in the display room of the Lapidarium.

Guided tour of about 3 hours starting from the center Piazza della Repubblica and arriving towards the castle where you can visit the undergrounds used over the centuries for various destinations. The guide Mihailo very nice and a little 'whimsical takes very much to heart the description in accessible English and seems almost a skilled actor. At the end the tour ends in a cellar where you drink free excellent Balkan wine and make friends with the others in the group. Highly recommended visit

Perfect Belgrade Underground tour with Stefan. Friendly, attentive, friendly and easy to follow. As historians, we loved to hear you, all the facts, anecdotes, opinions... that led us as if on a time travel through Serbian history. A Roman well (actually an Austrian cistern), a Yugoslav-era bunker, an Austrian powder keg, a Roman room and, finally, a glass of wine in a winery in the area. A very different visit to the Kalemegdan Fortress, completely complementary and extending what has already been visited. Highly recommended! Thank you!

Great walking tour of the underground of Belgrade. We got to see a light of the sights, access some place you wouldn’t normally see in you own, and learn about the interesting history of the city and country.

Honestly, the experience wasn’t what I expected. The guide’s English level was very basic, and I could understand less than half of what he was explaining. The ruins themselves were also not very interesting. I had high expectations, but I ended up feeling disappointed.

Michael was a walking, talking historical resources guide during our walk through the Underground Secrets of Belgrade. You could absolutely tell that Michael total enjoyed his job and the history he could provide about Belgrade. The history that he continued to provide about the Belgrade Fortress was remarkable and he so enjoyed sharing this history.

What to say? Jovana knows her stuff! This was one of the rare tours after which you come home extremely happy and satisfied, because you feel somehow richer. I learnt a lot and got some very interesting insights in this city that is not always easy to understand. Jovana is very well informed, always eager to answer all questions and overall a very pleasant and nice person to listen to. I truly recommend this tour, especially when you spend only a few days in Belgrade. You have to set priorities :) Don't miss it!
