At Big Island Buggy you choose the destination! You tour the island in your very own open aired VW Manx style buggy. We offer 2 or 4 seat manual and automatic transmission buggies. See historical sites, drive to beautiful beaches, tour the coffee farms, YOU decide where and how long you would like to stay. We rent our buggies for 4 hours or 8 hours. Call for multiple day rentals. Our buggies come with a soft top that you can remove with ease and give yourself an AMAZING VIEW! The buggies can be driven anywhere a rental car can go on the island. They go highway speeds. The only restriction is no off road (except dirt parking lots) and they are not 4 wheel drive. Please call us prior to booking for questions. Call or email to schedule pickup time. No walk ins. Available times for pickup are 8, 9, 10, 11am, 12, 1, 2pm. We provide maps and go over places to see.

Yellow "Tang", Blue "Mako" and Red "Tiki" are STANDARD/STICK-SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS transmissions. Green "Honu" is the only fully automatic transmission.
What is required in order to rent a buggy?
1. Be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license.
2. Full coverage personal auto insurance required or you can purchase from RENTALCOVER.COM BOTH Supplemental Liability and Collision Damage Waiver i
3. Be present at the time of the rental to complete contract.
4. All drivers must be registered on the rental contract.
5. One registered driver will also need to Authorize Use of a credit card for purchase of optional insurance policy deductible, if accident occurs and /or any other incidentals.
Can the Buggy be taken off road?
No, our buggies are only allowed on paved roadways and parking lots. Our buggies are equipped with GPS tracking devices, so we will be notified as soon as the buggy enters onto a dirt or lava road. There is a $500.00 charge for attempting "off road" excursions.
How Many People Can Fit in a Buggy?
We offer 2 and 4 seater options for your convenience.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
1. Cancellation within 24 hours of your reservation are non-refundable.
2. Due to inclement weather, we would make a decision for the refund the day of the rental. Please keep in mind that showers and storms will blow in and blow out quickly.

Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
What To Expect
Grab your crew and head out in your very own convertible, street legal super styling fun buggy! Our buggies travel along at highway speeds so you and your crew get to sightseeing more beaches, towns and our beautiful island! We offer (1) two seat and and (4) four seat VW buggies. For your convenience, beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and soft cooler provided by request at no additional charge. We provide maps and go over places to see. We have also equipped them with a USB port to charge your phones. At Big Island Buggy, we believe you will have the most fun you have ever had in a rental car! BLUE MAKO: (4 seat buggy) STICKSHIFT, Standard Transmission. Bench seat in back (Smaller adults). RED TIKI: (4 seat buggy) STICKSHIFT, Standard Transmission. Full size seats with open storage area behind rear seats. GREEN HONU: (4 seat buggy AUTOMATIC) Fully Automatic Transmission. Same as TIKI except automatic. RED LAVA: (4 seat buggy AUTOMATIC) Fully Automatic Transmission. Same as TIKI except automatic.

5.00Sadly our cruise ship could not disembark in Kona. True to their word Big Island Buggy refunded our funds with no prompting or fuss. Wish we could of have enjoyed one of their buggies. For sure they have our 100% trust.

5.00Big Island Buggy was the best rental ever! Renting the our green buggy was great. The experience of driving the Big Island in the buggy was wonderful. Aaron & Debi gave great advice about what can get done in the time we had during our port visit. They delivered the buggy to hotel across from the prier and then picked up from the same spot. No worries or hassles just a fun time with the wind in your hair.

5.00We had a great time with our 4 hour rental during a cruise stop at Kona. The company is very good with communication and we appreciated their input on our itinerary. Check in and drop off was quick and easy. The buggy was fun -- noisy and windy, but that's what made it a cool adventure!

5.00We had a great time! It was so fun to drive around town in the buggy. Aaron was great to work with. He delivered the car to the pier area and was flexible with our rental time (we got the buggy early and brought it back late). He also recommended several things to do and provided us a map. I highly recommend this experience.
