What To Expect
Torres dels Serrans
The Serrano Towers are a great example of Gothic architecture. They were part of the medieval city walls and were built between 1392 and 1398 by the architect Pere Balaguer. They served as one of the gates of the city with a main defensive function. Because of their location, they were also an entrance for those who came from the Serranos area, hence their name. The towers have two large polygonal towers flanking a central arch. The exterior is strong and simple, reflecting its military purpose. Over the centuries, the towers have served as a defense point, prison for nobles and historical monument. You can explore the interior of the towers and climb to enjoy one of the best views of the city.
Puerta Del Mar
Even if it seems ancient, the Sea Gate is a modern reconstruction. It was rebuilt in 1946 to honor the fallen in the Spanish Civil War. It is made of white stone with three arches, the central one being the largest.

5.00Francisco Frejo is a magnificent tour guide. There were four of us tourists, two who spoke English and two of us who spoke Spanish. He conducted the tour in both languages, explaining everything well. He was very kind and answered all our questions.

5.00We did not pre-book (late October), after visiting the cathedral we walked to their location point. We were offered an hour tour for €30, or two hours for €40 with no charge for young children; as we're with someone with limited mobility, she wanted the hour because she was tired from walking. Our tour was split in two main parts, the old town and city of arts & science. Our guide did well explaining things & we got off at the city of arts for a thorough explanation about the architecture.

1.00We booked a two-hour tuk-tuk tour in Valencia online for the price of 210 euros on 21.10.2025 for 6 people. Unfortunately, we were very dissatisfied with the execution of the tour – especially with one of the riders. Both vehicles started about 10 minutes late, but our driver then drove through the city much too fast and finished the tour at least 10 minutes early. In addition, the microphone and speakers did not work, the driver was frequently busy with his mobile phone and could hardly give us any information about Valencia. In addition, the tour was booked in German, but was only conducted in English. On the positive side, we would like to note that the second rider designed his part of the tour very well and professionally. Louis Schneuwly
