This tour provides the opportunity to learn more about the remarkable bravery and sacrifice of the people and defenders of Malta who never gave up, not even in their darkest hour during World War II. What was it like to spend most of your time deep underground for fear of being blown up, and how did people make do with their meagre rations? How did people manage to maintain a semblance of normal life under such difficult conditions?

This was an unexpected highlight to our trip. The tour guide was very knowledgable, thorough, interesting, and personable. While it is a lot of walking (hence the walking tour!) he had a very gentle pace, with lots of breaks to look at and discuss interesting locations. The information was fascinating, cohesive, and he even went through the museum with us (versus sending us on our own), which made the experience so much richer. We have taken tours in over fifty countries and this was one of the best tours we've been on.

Fantastic. Our guide Matthew is a local with a passion for his country and its history. In the endless battle to sort authenticity vs social media posturing, this is a win for former.

Our guide Matthew was fantastic, he was so knowledgeable and immensely passionate about Malta’s war history. We booked to do this trip as my husband is a World War II enthusiast and this tour did not disappoint. We had already been to most of the museums but the waking tour brought a whole new perspective. There were things we had not spotted around Valletta, that Matthew pointed out and explained, brining everything to life that we had read about in the museums. Lots of stops along the way to take in views and discuss what happened in different areas. Matthew also had facts and figures about different aspects and also pictures of what the different areas looked like during the conflict. This is a must do tour if you are a World War II history lover and even if not, you will still find this tour interesting and informative. I would highly recommend the tour and especially Matthew - if you can request a specific tour guide. We intend to bring family to Malta and will be booking this tour again.

Matthew met us on time at the designated spot. Throughout the tour he was very informative not only about all of the WWII related areas but also in regards to general information about various sites and in answering any questions we had. He was able to convey the information in a way that made it enjoyable for my wife (not a history buff) and me (a history buff). I would highly recommend Matthew as your tour guide for the WWII walking tour!!

I would strongly recommend this tour. Our guide Mario was very knowledgeable and a good story teller. He had a deep knowledge of the war in Malta and its importance on the world stage. This tour gives you an understanding of Malta and its people. As you are outside for the duration of the tour remember to take lots of water/ suntan lotion and wear good shoes.

Matthew provided an outstanding tour of Malta’s fascinating WW2 history. He was so knowledgeable, personable and charming. The level and detail of information he provided was just right for both the amateur WW2 historians in our group and those with no/less background. Highly recommended!
