St Peter’s Basilica & Sistine Chapel are subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we're happy to offer customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we endeavour to tell tour groups ahead of time if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible and in these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts.
On Wednesdays, due to the Papal Audiences, access to St Peter's Basilica is not possible in the morning.
St Peter's Basilica is not accessible on the express tours options

5.00Wonderful experience with our tour guide Amy. Beautiful sights and atmosphere, breathtaking art. Big crowds, but worth it for what you are shown. Three hour tour gave us just enough time to see all the important parts, but we were all very tired near the end. Important to take a fan and some water with you to stay cool, especially in the summer.

4.00Our tour guide did a great job of explaining the artwork and sculptures and the history during each part of the tour. It was very crowded, as we expected and she always made sure our group stayed together. The only negative for me was that I am a petite woman, 5' 2" tall and could not see over everyone to view everything i wanted to. It was also very hot inside. I did bring a mini rechargeable fan which helped immensely. I wouldn't have been able to finish the tour without it. I would not go without a tour. There is too much to see that needs an explanation from a knowledgeable guide.
