St Peter’s Basilica & Sistine Chapel are subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we're happy to offer customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we endeavour to tell tour groups ahead of time if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible and in these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts.
On Wednesday mornings, access to St. Peter’s Basilica is not included due to the Papal Audience. Entry is only possible after 1:00 PM.
St Peter's Basilica is not accessible on the express tours options
Please be advised that access to St. Peter's Basilica will not be guaranteed unless the names of all participants in the booking are provided in advance. This requirement is essential for security and the Venue organizational purposes. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit.
Please note that if you choose the “St. Peter's Basilica Tour Only” option, access to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel will not be included.

1.00This tour was a huge disappointment. It was a very rainy day, which is not in anyone’s control, but after waiting 1.5 hrs in the pouring rain we finally got into the Vatican Museum where the the tour guide, Maria-Sofia (Sofia), gave the group a 10 minute talk and instruction regarding the Museum and Sistine Chapel and that is where she left us. We were told to go our separate ways as she was too wet (as we all were!) and she left the tour. Our family then had to make our way through the whole Museum and Sistine Chapel without any tour guide whatsoever. We also weren’t able to access St Peter’s Basilica afterwards as Sofia told us we would not need out tickets after entering the Museum so these were disposed off and we could then not access the ‘skip the line’ access to the Basilica. I booked and paid for a guided tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Pete’s Basilica and we didn’t get that. I requested a refund direct from City Wonders for this very expensive tour and was offered only a 15% refund which is completely unsatisfactory. I also contacted Viator about it and they have advised they can’t do anything. Absolutely appalling!!

5.00Highly recommended as the Vatican museum can be so busy and super long queue to enter. This tour cuts down your waiting time and we had ROXY as a guide and she’s very informative all the way from start to finish, her explanations were simple to understand and clear. We used audio guide to listen to her narratives and she always made sure we did not get separated as the crowds became bigger each minute
