St Peter’s Basilica & Sistine Chapel are subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we're happy to offer customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we endeavour to tell tour groups ahead of time if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible and in these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts.
On Wednesdays, due to the Papal Audiences, access to St Peter's Basilica is not possible in the morning.

4.00We purchase the combo tour of Colosseum + Vatican. Colosseum tour with City Wonders was great. Learned a lot about the Roman Empire. 5-star tour! Vatican City tour was 3-star. I’ve wanted to see the Vatican for a long time. We even got to see the Pope! City Wonders communicated well and meet up was easy to find. I especially appreciated the back door path to Sistine Chapel, bypassing thousands of visitors. What I didn’t appreciate was the three-hour art history lesson. We were in the worlds’s most religious city and all we heard about was the artists and paintings. No history of the Catholic Church, little to any mention of Catholicism at all. So disappointing! I understand that guides do this everyday, but they should be taught that most visitors are going there because of the religious significance not the art.

5.00Fantastic tour guided by our excellent tour guide Sylvia. This was the Express Tour which took around 3 hours and was well long enough. Sylvia spoke almost nonstop leaving no stone unturned…plenty of facts, anecdotes and little gems that made you feel you had been told great secrets that no one else was privy to. It was very busy but it didn’t detract from the experience. People moved along in a very orderly and respectful manner. Entering the Sistine Chapel at the end where we sat for 15 minutes agog at all the wonderful art before us was the icing on the cake to what had been a really excellent tour. And then Sylvia then went over and above by escorting a small number of us to the nearest taxi rank to make sure we were safely on our way. I highly recommended this tour and if you manage to get Sylvia as your guide you know you’ll be in good hands.

5.00Very informative, learned so much! Our guide Maya was so much fun! Great picture opportunities. Wear good tennis shoes or walking shoes lots of uneven, walking different size stones, uneven pavement, and steps.. Highly recommend.
