Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
Santa Maria della Salute (or Salute Church or simply La Salute) is a basilica in Venice erected in the area of Punta della Dogana, from where it stands out in the panorama of St. Mark's Basin and the Grand Canal. Designed by Baldassare Longhena with attention to Palladio's models, it is one of the best expressions of Venetian Baroque architecture. Its construction represents an ex voto to the Madonna by Venetians for deliverance from the Plague that decimated the population between 1630 and 1631. The cult became so deeply rooted in Venice that the Virgin Mary was added to the list of patron saints of the city of Venice.
Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore
The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore is a small island, located opposite St. Mark's Square in Venice. Separated from the island of Giudecca by the small canale della Grazia, it is also washed by the Giudecca Canal, the San Marco Basin, the San Marco Canal, and, to the south, the lagoon; it is part of the sestiere of San Marco.

Leonardo was a wonderful host, excellent driver and did a great job providing an overview of our sights. He made sure everyone felt safe and had beverages during our trip.

The pros were essentially unlimited champagne and knowledge / personability of the guide. The cons were the boat was small and somewhat uncomfortable. We sailed in big water between the islands and not through the grand canal. The cruise ended 20 minutes early which was 1/6 of the time. When it ended, it was still daylight and not sunset, not even on the right side of venice to see the sun - blocked by buildings. I would have expected a bigger boat, maybe with tables for the champagne glasses. And certainly a view of the sunset on a "sunset" cruise. Much too expensive for what we got.

This cruise was perfect! Tomasso was a fantastic guide; fun, knowledgeable and funny. The trip time was perfect (not too long not too short). The group size was great (8 people), and the prosecco was delicious and cold! Highly recommend.

So we were left to the whims of Mother Nature when we took this sunset cruise in Venice. It was raining all morning but finally stopped about an hour before the cruise. However, even with the cloudy skies, it was a really nice experience. We had a small group onboard, consisting of me and my husband and 2 other guests. Plenty of champagne to go around! Our skipper, Tommaso, was fantastic. He apologized for the weather, even though there was nothing he could do about it, but made our overcast voyage very enjoyable! He was humorous and very knowledgeable about the city and surrounding islands. He was also quite easy to understand. He ensured glasses remained full and presented the islands history in a memorable way. He also answered all the questions presented to him. At the end of the day we unfortunately did not see a Venice sunset on the water, but we all had a positive and enjoyable time! Oh, and they were very observant and courteous of time. We were running slightly behind schedule and the skipper reached out via email to alert us and try to contact us about same! He definitely didn’t want to leave anyone behind. Would definitely recommend for others!
