  Living in Madrid I enjoy drinking vermouth but that’s about it. But sharing the being with Nic, I learned about its history, how it’s made, and how many different types there are! So many good flavors! Wonderful experience tasting with an expert as well. If you and your friends need a evening plan in Madrid, this is a great combination of fun and culture.

  I went to the free walking tour with Tio Tours earlier in the week (which I also highly recommend!) which ultimately led to Nick telling me about his night vermouth tour. Being interested in learning about the culture of Madrid and also trying something out of my comfort zone, I decided to book in for this tour. There was only myself and one other person making for a private, intimate and perfectly curated tour, giving Nick more time to answer any questions and explain in depth. The bars we went to were a perfect mix of cozy and busy with delicious vermouth, well outside of the normal touristy areas which made it so much more authentic. Because of the small group in the first bar we went to, where you’d usually try five vermouths, we had eight including some extremely rare and limited edition vermouths, put on by our excellent host Luìs for which I am incredibly privileged and grateful for his incredible hospitality and knowledge on vermouth. There are couple of spots we could choose where to go, depending on the vibe or what we were wanting to do which made the tour more personalised. The dinner at the last bar was the cherry on top and the food itself was delicious. I only have one critique: our tour guide needs to scrap his Dry January and get on the turps with his guests :)

  If you're at all interested in Vermouth, you'll love this tour. Nick is very knowledgeable and a great host. We started at the Mercado de San Fernando and then worked our way over to the La Latina neighborhood, stopping at several nice places for Vermouth and delicious Tapas on the way. Each one had something unique to offer and opened my eyes to the wide variety and rich history of Vermouth in Madrid.   Great vermouth tour. My favorite part was the tasting, with its amazing variety of styles and infused flavors, as well as the location in which that took place. The chosen nice local bars throughout Madrid were also great. It was a nice group and very well planned.

  I joined Nick for a group tour on my own where I met four other folks. We started in mercado were we got a special tasting by the owner of the Vermuteria who explained various Vermouths, their origin, flavors, etc. and where we got to try a really interesting selection of Vermouths. From there we hit a few other places where we drank the local Vermouth on tap and just got to experience the evening hopping around Madrid.

  Super fun Tour. Although I have been in Madrid for some time, we went to all new places for me, met owners of the bar, who told us lots of interesting things about vermouth. Nicholas was great guide, super friendly and the whole group was amazing.

  I did a vermouth tour with my friend Emely and Nic and absolutely loved it! Nic took us to this really authentic local bar and guided us through a vermouth tasting that was both super fun and really interesting. He explained the history, the traditions, and how vermouth is made in such an engaging way that you can tell he’s genuinely passionate about it. We got to try different kind of vermouth’s and learned how locals actually enjoy it, which made the experience feel really special and personal. It was the perfect mix of culture, history, and good drinks. I’d recommend Tío Tours to anyone who wants to discover the real spirit of the city and taste something unique!

  Great Tour of hidden authentic bars. Nice knows his city and the bar owners know him so we were treated like VIP’s. Generous rounds of quality and even rare Vermouth with delicious Tapas to match.
