You will be picked up at your hotel in Vientiane at 9:00 am for morning departure or 2:00 pm for afternoon departure and begins at the serene Wat Sisaket, the only temple left intact after the Siamese (Thai) invasion in 1828. It is one of the most beautiful temples in the capital, and its breezy teak covered hallways are filled with thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Continue on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo. Used as a religious museum, Wat Phra Keo displays a collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art. Also nearby is the Presidential Palace. Although you are not allowed to visit inside, it is a good glimpse in to the town’s colonial past as this building formerly served as the French governor’s palace. Visit COPE, an association working to help landmine victims. A visit to the center provides in-depth information about the history of the American/Vietnam war and the lasting impact of unexplored ordinances (UXO) in the area and the efforts underway to clear them. Continue to the Patuxay monument, Laos’ version of the Arc de Triomphe, where you can climb the stairs to the roof for sweeping panoramic views of the city. Next, your tour takes you to That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. Constructed by King Setthethirat in the 16th century, the temple is resplendent as the sun is shines upon its towering golden spire. End your tour of the capital along the banks of the Mekong River. Stroll along the river, stop to enjoy a cold drink, or sample a snack from one of the many local food stalls. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

The 3.5 hours included hotel pickup, on time, in a comfortable electric car with a guide and driver who drove very safely🙂 The guide, Mr Go, spoke decent English and was knowledgeable about the sites we visited, Laotian culture etc. Would definitely recommend this tour to people who want to get a good overview of the tourist attractions in Vientiane in a short span of time.

Excellent morning visiting some of the sites of Vientiane. It wasn't too busy at any of the sites so they were easy to visit and experience. Parn was my guide and was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and explained everything really well. I was wonderfully looked after.

The Vientiane Half-Day City Tour was interesting, and transportation to and from the hotel was well arranged. Since Vientiane isn’t a large city, I was able to explore the key landmarks and main tourist spots. However, the tour only lasted about two hours, not the four hours that were advertised. So in my opinion, it was overpriced for what was actually provided.

We were short on time and this half-day tour gave us a quick overview of the significant landmarks of Vientiane. While there was a little bit of a mix-up on our pickup location, Bravo IndoChina Tours did an excellent job communicating and making sure we got back on track. Our guide (Kham, if I recall correctly) was a veritable storehouse of knowledge. The car and driver were excellent and a real comfort in the hot and humid weather. We started at the Wat Sisaket, an excellent primer on Laotian temple style and architecture. Then on to Wat Phra Keo where we got to see some stunning and beautiful temple architecture. An interesting replica from the Plain of Jars gave a brief glimpse for those who cannot make it to the original site. The flowering trees and flowers all over the city were a real delight. After a walk beside the Presidential palace grounds, we went to That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. This is a very impressive structure and definitely a must see! Next stop Patuxay Monument by day. Got to climb to the top and see the sights of modernization creep at a distance. There are a couple of display floors on the climb to the top, which are a must stop to read to understand the local history. Finally we stopped at COPE. This is a small museum inside a Rehab Hospital for mine victims. Such an inspiring story and a wake up call for all. Thanks Kham and the Driver for making our trip so worthwhile.

I had expected to see more, the trip lasted only about 2.5 hours. Could have thought of me in several places. The guide's English was sometimes difficult to understand

I would normally go to sites like these on my own, but I'm really glad I had a guide. There are a few things posted in English at the museums, but I learned so much more from my guide!

We learned a lot during this tour! It was a great introduction to Vientiane, and the history. Our guide, Lotty, was very kind and nice. He truly cares about the guest experience and was able to answer a lot of our questions. Just to note, this tour was a little more than 2 hours, just not a half day as advertised.

The Wat Si Saket was calm and beautiful. Unfortunately our guide, who was very friendly, kind and helpful, did not have very much English so we felt we didn’t get much from that part of the tour. It also made it feel very expensive as we had minimal information about the sights.
