Begin your full-day trip to Bulgaria with a departure from your hotel in Bucharest in the morning. Travel by air-conditioned car or minibus to the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. Explore the medieval settlement of Veliko Tarnovo with your guide. Here you can observe the Tsaravets Fortress, a fortification from the Middle Ages.
Continue on and visit the St. Dimitrie Basarabov Monastery, which is carved into a cliff and still inhabited. Go to Arbanasi Village and admire the medieval architecture.
At the end of day trip we will travel back to Bucharest.

What To Expect
St. Dimitrii of Basarbovo Monastery
The tour’s first stop, St. Dimitrie Basarabov Monastery, is the only Bulgarian example of such a structure carved into a cliff that is still inhabited today, and its atmosphere will fill you with wonder. You will have a little time to explore this beautiful religious monument before we continue to the remarkable medieval settlement of Veliko Tarnovo, which was once the medieval capital of Bulgaria.
Tsarevets
Veliko Tarnovo is home to the magnificent Tsaravets Fortress, the strongest Bulgarian fortification from the Middle Ages. Once home to royalty this ancient stronghold is now a striking tourist attraction standing proudly atop Tsaravets Hill. Once you have explored Veliko Tarnovo and enjoyed lunch, the tour will continue to its final stop; Arbanasi Village. Nestled on a high plateau between the settlements of Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa, Arbanasi Village provides spectacular views and incredible examples of medieval architecture dating back several centuries. This tour is truly one for the enthusiastic history buff and anybody that appreciates beautiful buildings, stunning scenery, and the opportunity to discover a little more about Bulgaria.

5.00Alin was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and good fun. Our trip was delayed by 24hrs due to heavy snow fall but the communication was brilliant & the rearrangement easy. Our trip was seamless, the border crossings were simple and the sights were stunning. Alin also gave us a small tour of Bucharest at the end of the day as we'd missed so much due to the weather.

5.00Great tour to do from Bucharest Romania 🇷🇴 to Bulgaria 🇧🇬 . It's an all day tour, but definitely worth the value and time. My guide was Octavian, and he did an awesome job. He picked me up right on time in the morning. This tour wasn't the traditional boring tour, it was fun like going on a road trip with a friend. We saw great scenery along the way and sights on a small town in Bulgaria that is interesting. He takes great photos 📸 for memories. Don't hesitate to book this tour, trust me. And ask for Octavian to be your tour guide for that. Thanks again Octavian and great job!

Alin was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with all our questions and we leaned a lot about the places we visited as well as Romania and Bulgaria. 5.00We had a great day with Octavian! He was extremely knowledgeable about Romanian and Bulgarian history. There were many benefits to having a guide with us versus trying to navigate this trip on our own (when to arrive at border for efficiency, clean bathrooms, parking, navigating their confusing roads, etc.). It would’ve taken us twice or three times as long to do. Thanks for a fun day in Bulgaria!
