The Madeleine site is both a unique place, mixing a rich prehistoric past (the site gave its name to a prehistoric civilization), remains of the Middle Ages (troglodytic village and ruins of the castle of Petit-Marzac), an exceptional and preserved environment and a peasant farm.

In high season (July-August) you can enjoy activities around ancestral know-how: blacksmiths, basket makers, sheet maker, lauze cutter, medicinal care workshops with garden plants...

To visit. But it is always the same story we are told that there are fewer people in June and September but there is no entertainment at all ....and the entrance price is the same.

Exciting tour led by a guide involved in the restoration and conservation of the site. The history of the Magdalenian site at its abandonment....

We benefited from the free guided tour. Visit commented by Monsieur Louis, a real boss, who knows how to share his knowledge with some hints of humor. Very pleasant visit

Very nice site to discover, after scanning the qrcode of the site we can follow the visit thanks to the numbered path and has our rhythm to the sound of 21 podcasts

Very disappointed apart from the audio comment. No trace of prehistory, rather a middle-aged occupation. Excessive price for the service offered. Consistent with Tripadvisor Summary 2025. We were allowed in despite the stormy conditions that surprised us and forced us to quickly turn back in muddy streams of water. Under these conditions we were not able to visit the farm and no compensation was accepted.

The visit to the village is great! Easy to access and well organized, in the version reading signs or comments on the mobile throughout the visit, impeccable! For the farm, the shed with beautiful pictures after nothing special maybe also because it was the end of the season

  • To discover.

We took the formula "guided tour", beautiful experience where our guide knew how to project us into the history of the place. Visit lasting about 1h-1h30, once the guided tour was completed we were able to stay on the site. Free shaded parking, possibility to picnic before entering the premises because there is a shaded park in front of one of the parking lots. What a beautiful place.!!! The scenery is total.

Great guided tour! History is traced back from prehistory to the Middle Ages through the different cliff floors. The Telia guide was exciting. A very nice surprise!

Great discovery! We were lucky to have a fabulous guide, her enthusiasm was equal to her stories and places. Village being restored, fascinating! This was followed by a tour of the farm.
