We had an exceptional day out with Laurent. Going to two beautiful vineyards and sampling the stunning wines. We had a great picnic in a beautiful garden. Would highly recommend this as a trip. Well worth it and we came out with a couple of bottles of wine as well

We hadn't been on a wine tour before this trip, but since the region is well known for producing quality wine we decided to give one a go. We both drink wine at home, but had limited knowledge of how it was made before this, so were looking forward to learning a bit more about it (as well as trying a selection of the local offerings). The tour was excellent - Laurent, our guide, was very knowledgeable and filled the drives to and from the vineyards with information about the different types of grapes which are grown in the region, as well as the different designations that vineyards can have depending on which level of quality criteria they choose to apply (with stricter criteria allowing them more prestigious designations, but requiring less intensive cultivation, organic methods etc). We toured two small local vineyards, the first of which showed us around the stone farmhouse containing the facilities where they ferment and juice the grapes, as well as the room where their wines were aged in oak barrels. We were then treated to samples of 8 different wines, with 4 reds and 4 whites to try, all of which were excellent. The flavours started lighter and got more intense with the later wines, so depending on your personal preferences you'll find your favourite at different points in the tasting. They did also have a receptacle to spit wine into if you wanted to focus on tasting and not drink too much. The second vineyard followed a similar pattern, with a discussion of how they prepared their wine followed by a tasting. There were around 5 different wines at the second vineyard (also all very good, with a mixture of red and white) as well as a very flavourful gin which they distilled on site. Both vineyards sold bottles of everything that we tried (and had card readers, which meant that we could buy our favourites even though we hadn't brought any cash) After the second vineyard, we were taken to see a wonderful historic windmill with commanding views over the area (at which Laurent provided some wine to accompany the history) before being taken back to Laurent's house for an excellent lunch of local cheeses and meats (and of course another glass of wine). Overall, a fantastic experience which we would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Thank you! you made me live one of my most beautiful holiday day in your area. The choice of vineyards, the quality of the accompaniment and the good mood of Laurent... everything was PERFECT. I’m used to doing wine tours and without hesitation I recommend that of Oct Wine Tours.

My friends and I signed up for the wine tour and picnic with Laurent in mid September and had a fantastic time. Laurent is very personable, outgoing and passionate about this area of France. We visited two wineries and learned about the process of winemaking in addition to tasting the beautiful wines. The highlight of the trip was a relaxing lunch in Laurent’s garden where he presented charcuterie, cheeses, pates, etc from the area with some delightful wines. A lovely ending to a great trip around the local wineries. Highly recommended - thank you Laurent!

A really great trip. We met Laurent at the tourist office and headed North out of Beziers to Autignac and the Domaine La Folie Vigneronne. There were just the two of us on the trip but Laurent has room for 6 or possibly 8 people in his people carrier. Frank, the husband of the crazy wine grower, gave us an enormous amount of information on wine production in very good English and was able to answer all of our questions. The wines were delicious. We then headed further North to Cabrerolles to the Domaine du Meteore, a vineyard based around a 10,000 year old meteor crater. Once again our hostess (a lovely English lady) was very informative and the wine was superb. The syrah bubbly made from grapes growing in the crater was exceptional. We tried and enjoyed all their wines and managed to have a whole bottle of their Perseides red at the Patio restaurant in Beziers a couple of nights later. Throughout our tour Laurent was charming and informative in quite good English. He took us to his home town for a lunch of bread, cold meat, cheese and wine which we thoroughly enjoyed whilst his wife played the piano that they had just been given in the background. Prior to heading back to Beziers Laurent took us to a very old windmill set on a hill with 360 degree views. A great day out . Thank you Laurent! Read less

This tour was truly delightful and especially so since it was much more than visiting a couple of wine yards. You can expect to see some really beautiful parts of Languedoc including green landscapes, mountains and pittoresk villages. The guide and driver Laurent was very generous with his time and he will charm you with his insights of not only wine but also general knowledge of the region. He speaks good english too. We visited two wine yards of different size and the hosts at those places gave us a lot of insights into the wine making and of course plenty of tasting as well. When you make a stop Laurent will have cooling bags with both water and even more wine. We had the included lunch at another fantastic place. I really recommend to experience this.

Laurent was an excellent guide and super friendly host. His relationships with local vintners meant we had great tastings with fun discussion. He took us to a UNESCO heritage site ancient windmill for a wonderful view over the vineyards and then a delish lunch in his own garden. Great day!
