A very beautiful place with an audio guide that truly recounts the entire history of the island and sugar cane. However, we found that the entrance fee is quite expensive, especially since there is also a souvenir shop afterwards. Plan a good budget if you want to go and treat yourself. There is a tasting of different sugars that was rather cool, but we really felt like we were bothering the lady who conducted the tasting.

We really enjoyed our trip here. I’ll be honest, the history part of how sugar cane came to Mauritius & slavery has really left a lasting impression on me. Once we had a full walk around the full museum side, we went for the rum tasting & woah some were very strong! I really enjoyed the caramel one though. Great price to get in and with the audio guide on your own phone too. Great day out & would highly recommend to anyone.

Very informative and interesting experience: you got the history of Mauritius, starting with the Dutch and moving on to the French and British, slavery, indentured slavery and how sugar played its part in the history of the country. The exhibit continues with the processes of sugar production and then rum. At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to try the local rum, different sugar and honey. It was totally worth doing this as it gives you a flavour of the country’s history and culture and if you continue touring the country, it helps to understand more who the Mauritians are today. Wear comfortable shoes and bring earphones to listen to the audio guide

This was a really well developed modern museum and we learned a lot about sugar production and the history of Mauritius. It worked well for all the family, and at the end it was nice to enjoy both the sugar tasting and rum tasting. There were also activities for kids there.

An old sugar factory converted as a museum, very interesting, also about the history of the island you can learn a lot and the sugar cane processing. Great facility with the possibility of a sugar tasting or rum tasting. Be sure to try

The setting is nice in an old sugar factory. The price is excessive compared to the tour itself... it is an audio guide. He

For Darshinee: We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the sugar factory, thanks to Darshinee! She was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming from the very beginning. She generously guided me and my girlfriend through a delightful tasting of various sugars and local spirits, patiently explaining everything with a smile. Her enthusiasm and kindness truly made our visit special. Highly recommended!
