Come take an authentic look at farm life in Ireland. This sheep farm is a traditional working Connemara mountain farm which has been in the same family for generations. It has approximately 200 ewes and lambs who roam freely in the mountains overlooking Killary Fjord. On arrival visitors are met by Tom the farmer and have the option to be outfitted with outdoor footwear and rainwear supplied by the farm. Tom starts off the farm tour with a sheepdog herding demonstration. These extremely smart dogs are trained from puppies and it is incredible to watch them in action! In the summer months (June to August), Tom shears the sheep by traditional methods with hand shears. It is an old farm tradition not often seen anymore. From the farm you can see spectacular, sweeping views of Killary Fjord and the mountain ranges beyond. If there are lambs about (and there usually are), you can count on a few needing bottle-feeding. You’re welcome to lend a hand!

This visit was an incredible experience. The scenery is beautiful and the sheep farmer was both knowledgeable and gracious. It was so of him to open up his working farm for a visit. He provided a demonstration of his sheep dog working the sheep. It was masterful to watch the way that dog works and obeys his commands. The baby sheep are so cute! Highlight of the trip to Ireland. This is definitely worth a visit!

PJ and Rex provided an amazing insight into how valuable dogs are to sheep farmers. Putting Rex thru his paces with the sheep was extraordinary... Oh! And we were able to feed baby lambs! I was in heaven!

PJ and Rex were a great duo! It was a treat to observe such an intelligent animal perform his work with the commands of his trainer/sheep farmer. It was eye opening to see how it works. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Plus the drive to get there was brilliant.

So we came here while on vacation from Boston. We had two kids (aged 11 and 13) and it was wonderful. Watching Rex, the border Collie herd the sheep was fabulous. PJ the farmer was really informative and taught us so many things! If you want a wonderful time, please come here! I can’t recommend it enough. We will definitely be back next time we come back to Galway!

We got to watch the pup work and our was incredible to witness how well trained and intelligent they are. The sheep shearing was also fun to witness and their was plenty of time to ask questions. My son loved being able to feed the babies.
