What To Expect

1

Popocatepetl

"The Popocatépetl volcano is the second highest mountain in Mexico and is located within the Izta-Popo National Park. During our hike, we will have this great colossus as a companion in the landscape. Popocatépetl is an active volcano, so if we're lucky, we might witness some fumaroles or large columns of smoke rising from its crater — always from a safe distance permitted by the authorities."

Absolutely fabulous!! I would do it again. Ariel and Melissa are great guides! They are very knowledgeable about the history and environment of the volcanos. The altitude affected me and they were so patient and helpful. I would high recommend! Especially for solo female travelers- they felt safe and welcoming. I had a great day and truly enjoyed myself!

  • Incredibly satisfying hike up a volcano

I had an absolutely amazing time with Ariel and Aaron. I had requested a more challenging hike than the default offered and Ariel was happy to design me something that fit what I wanted perfectly. Throughout the hike I knew I was in safe hands and only had to keep an eye on my own performance, and the guide was great at staying aware of how I was doing with the altitude and making sure I stayed ok. Easily my best hiking experience in Mexico.

  • Exceptional hiking tour - awesome guide; gorgeous scenery

Ariel is an exceptional guide with lots of hiking & mountaineering experience, he's focused on safety, and he's familiar with some of the plants & birds in the region. We appreciated that this was a private tour. Highly recommended! We saw gorgeous scenery, beautiful pine trees, Stellars Jays, Mexican Chickadees, mushrooms and wildflowers. Great hiking experience! Tips - wear hiking boots/shoes with good tread; bring snacks and a small backpack so you have a place for clothing layers, and a place for water (guide provides water); bring a hiking hat and sunglasses. It is important to take several days to acclimate to high elevation before going on this hike! (City of Puebla is a great place to acclimate)
