If watching thousands of king penguins is on your bucket list, go for it. Jimmy's team is also very professional so we felt very confident to go back to cruise timely.

We had Dave as our driver, and he was excellent. He is a gentle and kind young man who drives very carefully. He handled the challenging conditions extremely well, keeping track of the jeeps in front of and behind us while intentionally avoiding muddy sections that were too deep to drive through. The drive to Volunteer Point takes about two hours. As many reviews mention, about one hour of the ride is quite bumpy. Because it had rained recently, the road was very muddy, which made the journey more challenging. On the way back, we even saw two jeeps stuck in the mud. Seeing the penguins up close was absolutely amazing. We came from a cruise and had already seen many penguins while passing Antarctica, but those were all from far away. This experience truly completed our trip. We saw three different kinds of penguins, and as Dave said, this is the best way to see penguins on the island. We completely agree. There was one bathroom stop each way, and there are bathrooms available at Volunteer Point. The lunch sandwich was very good, and my kids enjoyed their snacks too. A few tips for future travelers. Wear waterproof shoes, as it was muddy and there is penguin waste everywhere. You will also need to wash your shoes before and after entering the penguin areas. Most importantly, get your tender tickets as early as possible. Although the paper said ticket distribution starts at 7:00 am, the actual distribution began at 6:30 am. When I arrived at 6:00 am, there was already a long line. There were also large tour groups on our ship, and their guides were among the first to get tickets. We were relieved to finally make it ashore at 9:00 am, but it was a stressful process. This has nothing to do with Jimmy and Dave’s tour, just something to be aware of so you do not miss this experience. We highly recommend this tour. It was fun, memorable, and truly special.

We had Bradley as our driver to go out to see the King Penguins and it was an amazing experience. Have visited here almost 20 years ago and it was just as amazing today as it was then. The up-close views of the penguins is well worth it as you they surround you and immerse you in their environment. We took this tour, landing here on a cruise ship and would highly recommend anyone on a cruise that is coming here to look into this tour—a much more personal and economic experience vs. the ship. Yes, you will be off road driving through the bogs for some time to get there (be prepared—off road driving!), but it was worth every bump to get see the penguins up close and personal. Very competent driver that took great care and was excellent at navigating the bogs, especially given it had rained recently and was a bit of a mess driving through! Felt very safe! Highly recommended tour!!!!

Seeing the penguins was a marvelous once in a lifetime experience. The jeep trip there and back was fun and interesting. It rained a bit going out, but stopped when we arrived. However, it still was very windy. The driver was expert and did a great job. I highly recommend this trip.

Do not miss this opportunity! What a thrill! Jimmy Story's Adventures is amazing. Thanks Sean for a great ride! We had a blast! The penguin reserve is breathtaking and you truly will walk with the penguins and the sheep! Dress warmly, the winds are unrelenting but are all part of the adventure! Thanks Jimmy for the hot coffee and delicious home made chicken, curry and mango chutney lunch...will def be making these when we get home! The Falklands Islands beauty lies in the stark landscape, strong winds and the kindness and strength of the locals. An adventure we won't soon forget, thank you!!?

Please bring warm clothes. The temperature felt is much colder. You drive offroad for about 2 hours, which can strain the discs and neck. Lunch consists of toasted slices, crisps and sweet snacks.
