You’ll be picked up at McCafé at Warsaw Chopin Airport, where you meet your guide and board a Żuk retro minibus. The itinerary is tailored to your interests, timing, and flight schedule. Planning the route in advance is recommended, but you can also decide everything together with your guide on the day.
Most layover tours focus on a “Best of Warsaw” experience, combining the Old Town, WWII II sites, communist-era landmarks, and authentic neighborhoods such as Praga. Depending on traffic and preferences, the tour may also include street art or former Jewish areas.
The retro minibus lets you move efficiently between locations, cover more ground than a walking tour, and adjust the plan on the go. Your guide monitors time carefully to ensure a smooth return to the airport.

This tour can be booked instantly online for adults and children over 150 cm (4 ft 9 in). If you wish to book the tour for a child under 150 cm, please contact the tour operator in advance to check the availability of seat boosters, which are mandatory under Polish law.
Each minibus accommodates up to 8 passengers, and a fleet of 5 minibuses is available.
The vehicles are used primarily for transfers between locations, with walking segments at each stop. Please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear.
Please note that classic vintage minibuses are not equipped with air conditioning, and some do not have seat belts (which is permitted for historic vehicles). All vehicles are equipped with heating for the winter season.

The walking part of the tour begins in Warsaw’s Old Town, the historic heart of the city. At Castle Square, learn how Warsaw developed over more than 700 years. Hear stories of ambitious kings, medieval trade routes, and the diverse influences brought by settlers from across Europe.
Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy)
Castle Square is one of Warsaw’s most important public spaces, located in front of the Royal Castle, the former residence of Polish monarchs. Its distinctive triangular shape is dominated by Sigismund’s Column and surrounded by historic townhouses. The square also marks the beginning of the famous Royal Route leading south through the city.

5.00Booked this tour last minute as my husband and Dad had an unexpected overnight layover in Warsaw. They had a private 4 hour tour. The owner Marcin was responsive, passionate and knowledgeable. He was also the person who guided the tour. His passion to share the history of Warsaw was apparent. He was very enthusiastic about sharing his stories and experiences. The van, which is a retro communist era van, when rented can actually accommodate 8 but it was just for 2 people. Highly recommend!

5.00Mario was super knowledgeable about Warsaw and we had a very lovely time exploring the town on our layover. He’s easy to talk to, and very accommodating. He helped us find a delicious authentic and affordable Polish restaurant to snack at as well! He is humble and smart, definitely book with Mario!

5.00It was the third time we chose Warsaw Behind the Scenes to guide our large group of young students from Portugal through the city (50 person this year!). Every year it is a wonderful experience! Students are having lot of fun in the classic van “cucumber” while sightseeing, learning about communist regime and eating traditional doughnuts. The organisation is very professional, our tour is tailored exactly to our needs and the guide is outstanding. We appreciate punctuality, smooth organisation and nice people we are working with.
