Ryten
Ivar, your driver and guide, will pick you up at your accommodation (anywhere between Å and Ramberg) and drive you to the trailhead. We will use snowshoes, microspikes, or potentially both, depending on the snow conditions. Ivar will show you how to use the snowshoes and adjust the hiking poles, and you’ll receive instructions on how to layer your clothes to avoid getting sweaty and subsequently cold. During the trip, we will take it easy and have frequent breaks so you can take pictures, catch your breath, and simply enjoy yourself. In a group of up to 8 people, everyone can have a different pace. We’ll always adjust to the slowest participant to make sure no one is left behind. This also means that others might need to walk slower or take breaks while waiting for the rest of the group. If you prefer not to be slowed down by other group members, we suggest booking a private hike and letting Ivar know a bit in advance so he can add more cardio to his training sessions.

It honestly felt like magic how I met Ivar and Radka. I was cold and waiting for the bus alone outside the ferry station when I met Ivar’s friend, Clayton, who kindly called Ivar see if he can also give me a ride to my hotel. and that’s how I learned Ivar was a guide. I had no idea what to do in Lofoten, so I booked their winter hike. I was a bit nervous at first since I had no winter hiking experience and wasn’t sure if my clothes were right, but Ivar was incredibly thoughtful. He asked me to show him my shoes, explained what to wear and why, and made sure I felt prepared. On the day of the hike, he brought everything: snowshoes, lunch, hot water bottles, wool cushions, chairs, headlights, extra hats and socks — even a wool legging for me. Before starting, he checked everyone’s clothing to make sure we were warm and safe. During the hike, he kept checking on each of us and reminded us when to adjust layers so we wouldn’t overheat. We made it to the peak, and had lunch on the way down, I tomato spaghetti, eaten on the chair with wool cushions in the snow, such a simple but unforgettable moment. The snow was heavy and deep that day, and it turned into one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve had. I’m so grateful that my first winter hiking experience was with them! It was a bit demanding, but I absolutely loved it. And Ivar has a good sense of humour 😂 Highly recommended for anyone looking for a safe, thoughtful, and truly special winter hiking experience.

I had an amazing sightseeing tour with Ivar and Radka. They took us to some fantastic spots and even led us on a small, unconventional hike. They were incredibly warm and served hot drinks and some Lofoten specialty snacks along the way. They shared lots of insights about Lofoten, mixed with some funny stories too. Overall, a wonderful experience — 100% recommended!
