Weta Workshop Tour was great! Movie magic exposed. Stuff from Lord of the Rings, but many other movies as well.

We had a really great tour guide who was so friendly and knowledgeable. There was also a kid in the group who was on the spectrum and he was so patient and kind to this boy. Very impressive

Our Tour Guide was Ben - he exuded the enthusiasm you expect as a guide - he gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions and it was a wonderful insight into the incredible talent that works behind the scenes of so many incredible films, not just The Lord of the Rings. For me there were 2 highlights - one the makeup artist - Mackenzie Hobbs and secondly Kim Beaton who created the most incredible sculptures out of wait for it …… Tin Foil. An incredibly talented lady who enthusiasm for her talent was second to none. This tour isn’t just for LOTR fans, it’s an education

Ella gave myself and my mother visiting from Wales a wonderful tour and we can't recommend enough just how good the tour was and definitely worth a visit if you're in Wellington and have even the slightest interest in film and film making!

We were warned at the beginning that this is a no-touch and no-photos tour, for very valid reasons, copyright being one of them. However they did tell us that there are some places where this does not apply and we could take as many photos as we liked and could touch certain things. This policy did in no way diminish the experience, so don't be put off by this, we got to take photos and try on masks etc in the selected areas but the talk was so fascinating that I was too engrossed in listening and looking to bother taking photos. We were taken through the various stages of creating the masks, hand, feet etc of the characters, weapons, chainmail etc - the attention to detail is amazing and the rationale for the different materials used shows how much thought goes into every creation. I could tell you lots of the fascinating & fun information that was shared with us, but I don't want to spoil the tour for you. We also got the opportunity to make our own tin foil creations, having been shown examples of tin foil creations made by one of the employees - he made it look so easy and you'd never know that beneath the exterior of the bigger ones was a base of tin foil and cardboard. You do not have to be a Lord of the Rings fan (I'm not) to enjoy this tour as the tour covers, amongst other things, the "how" of creating the characters and this process is really interesting. A good tour, that I can happily recommend.

Went for the workshop tour today and had a fantastic time! Mark Fry, our tour guide, was informative, and made our experience a memorable one. He made our experience very immersive, and answered all of our questions enthusiastically! Thank you Mark for a great tour! Even my parents (who have never seen Lord of the Rings) loved the tour, and had a fantastic time.
