What To Expect

Join us for a hands-on blending experience, creating your own unique bottle of wine to take home. Our wine educators will guide you through the process of selecting and blending different varietals to create a wine that perfectly suits your taste. You’ll get to experiment with different blending ratios until you find the perfect combination. Along the way, you’ll learn about the characteristics of different grapes and how they contribute to the final product. Once you’ve created your blend, we’ll bottle it up and you’ll get to take it home with you as a one-of-a-kind souvenir of your experience. And of course, you’ll also get to enjoy a glass or two of your creation as you work. This event is for adults 18+ only and no children are permitted.

The wine maker class was so much fun. Declan taught us a lot in the 90 minutes we were there. The room, equipment and atmosphere was wonderful and well organised. Highly recommend this experience for friends wanting to do something different when visiting our beautiful Hunter Valley wine region.

Highly recommended. This experience was informative and enjoyable delivered in a professional easygoing manner that made concepts easy to understand and remember. The wine was high quality and the set-up well thought out and presented. The cheese platter offers local produce and went down very well with a final glass 🍷.

What a great experience where you feel totally comfortable no matter what level of understanding of wines you bring to the table. Declan is super knowledgeable and very happy to answer questions and share wine making experiences. An added bonus was tasting delicious wines and making our own blends. Highly recommended.

Winemaker for the Day experience at McCaffrey’s Estate was excellent and I highly recommend it to couples, friends and families as a different, fun and engaging experience from wine tasting at cellar doors. Declan is highly knowledgeable and makes the wine making experience fun and relatable. Danielle and Declan are wonderful hosts and we made sure we bought some extra bottles to sample.

What an awesome time we had with Declan learning about blending wines. He had a really clear way of breaking down wine characteristics which enables you to get into the fun blending bit quickly. Bottling up at the end was loads of fun and we enjoyed trying each others blends over that nights BBQ dinner. Terrific time, definitely recommend this experience.

Very much recommend that Wine Making Experience in the Hunter. Declan is a very goodand talented host... he knows his business... We were 3 of us and enjoyed every minute + you leave with a bottle of your own wine so if you don't like it, that is your fault and cannot blame anyone else because on that day you are the winemaker.

Declan and the team at McCaffreys offer one of the best wine tasting/making experiences you will get. Declan is authentic and extremely welcoming to everyone. The wines are pretty darn good as well, which of course helps :)
