We rode the Lake Winnipesaukee scenic train ride from Meredith to Lakeport. Nice relaxing ride for a fall day. Loved the scenery. We rode first class but we were the last ones to board. We had to wait for all the bus trip tours to board and the turkey truck to load the turkey dinners (which we did not order). Other than that, it was a nice ride.

We rode the train while on a bus tour of Maine and New Hampshire. I wasn't expecting much from the food (maybe prepackaged turkey) We were served a complete turkey dinner with the roasted turkey carved at our seats! The scenery along the lake was picturesque. Our server Jim N was very talkative and told us all about the history of the turkey dinner as well as the area.

We did the 4 hour train ride which included a stop for lunch. Jim N. was our conductor and he was fabulous. He was personable and so knowledgeable, not only about the scenery but the history of the towns and how their economy has been affected. He answered our questions and offered stories about each town. Thank you Jim for making our ride so enjoyable!!!!

Staff was very good, ride was comfortable. However, paying and extra 16.00 per person for the so called "1st class" coach was a complete waste of money. The only difference from the "coach" or standard section was you got a soft drink AND a cookie ! Also unlike the coach section the window would not open. So by all means take the train ride, it is fun but avoid the 1st class coach !

It was a nice choice , in spite of a rainy day. Relaxing, comfortable . Nice time for a nostalgic train ride and chatting, having snacks watching the lake view. It was hood to have nooth with comfy seats and table. (Only problem disturbing our convetsations were the very frequent loud train horn sounds, the first half of the trip almost every 3,-4 minutes. The snack car would be a little better to be brought earlier during the trip? These are not really significant complaints just mention)
