What To Expect
Join this guided trek to the untouched wilderness of Inari! Depending on the snow circumstances, we hike with either snowshoes or modern skin-based forest skis. Our trek takes us deep in to the forest with no human-made structures or tracks, only untouched snow and calm nature. You will get to truly feel the nature around you. Especially during winter, the forests are extremely quiet and peaceful. If you are lucky, we can see willow grouses in their snow-white winter outfit, grazing reindeers or other animals and birds roaming in the forests. We have a lunch on the go during the trek on an open fire or a camping stove, depending on the weather. When we head back to car, it might be getting dark all ready. Snowshoeing / skiing in the dark is a magical experience. With the safety provided of our head torches, we can experience a totally different kind of forest. Mid-winter forest is silent and still, and moving around is like walking on a cotton cloud. Experience the complete darkness or use your headlamp to make big, deep shadows around you – either way, for sure you can make your imagination fly…

5.00We had an absolutely unforgettable backcountry skiing experience through the snow-covered forests near Saariselkä, and it was all thanks to Joonas. From start to finish, the experience was incredible. Joonas took us on a complete route deep into untouched nature, far away from crowded tracks, allowing us to truly discover the authentic essence of Finland. The surroundings were stunning: silent forests, pristine snow, and an overwhelming sense of peace. What really made the difference was Joonas himself. His passion for backcountry skiing, nature, and Finnish culture was evident in everything he did. Throughout the tour, he shared stories, experiences, curiosities, and insights that enriched the journey and made it much more than just a ski outing. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he managed to pass it on to us effortlessly. This was a rich and complete experience, full of nature, discovery, and genuine moments. We can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to experience the true soul of Finland.

5.00We did a four day skiing trip with pulkas in UKK national park. It was amazing. Our guides, Juhani and Emilia were both well-organized, funny, reliable, and they made the trip unforgettable! We saw reindeers, northern lights, and experienced minus 38 temperatures. We highly recommend Xwander Nordic adventures.
