Yala National Park
After picking up you from Hambantota Port, you will reach the Yala National Park Entrance. The safari will take you on a short game drive through the wilds of Yala. With a variety of natural habitation types and their rich ecology, you will not lack wonders to feast your eyes upon. From elephants to leopards, and from crocodiles to sea birds, you will be able to immerse yourself in experiencing the sensations of raw nature with all the proper safety measures. You will be traveling in a rough terrain (4WD) game vehicle. The safari takes serious consideration of your safety and therefore, with regards to the wild elephants and other larger wildlife, and while the vehicle may stop at intervals, it is strongly advised that you do not descend from your jeep for safety purposes (especially when coming upon lone elephants, which may get aggressive when disturbed). You are also asked to follow the advice of your safari guide at all times during the safari. End of safari back to Port.

Firstly unlike other tours that pick you up in the comfort of an air conditioned car- this tour picked us up in a very bouncey jeep that crawled along the road at ants pace. Buses, bicycles you name it passed us! Then after travelling along a road for 25 mins- our driver turned around as he was lost! I tried to call the tour operator as it was so infuriating that we were SO slow and very uncomfortable. Whilst others on our cruise had a lovely 4 hr tour with comfortable transfers and lunch included. We on the other hand had an additional 2 hrs bouncing around in the jeep on the roads- with no lunch or breaks AND it cost us THREE TIMES MORE than anyone else paid!! Did we see much- no not really- but you can't blame the company nor driver for that. It is what it is, but the disorganization and time wasted was something I would NOT recommend. Oh and if you are from Australia- REALLY DO NOT BOTHER! We see crocs, Ibis, peacocks etc far closer than anything on this tour!

Our driver was good in getting us to and from Yala, but the vehicle did not provide proper seatbelts and seat headrests which can be dangerous. Our guide did not provide much explanation during the safari perhaps due his poor English skills which was disappointing as we expected a guide who can describe the park and animals during the safari. Also, he was unable to track the animals very well because we spotted animals before him, and often needed to request him to stop and backup the jeep. We did see a few animals, but overall the experience was somewhat underwhelming.

The ad said Toyota truck with English speaking guide. The truck was decrepit horrible suspension. Hardly running. Guide did not speak English. Would point but could not tell us if itwasanelephant or bird we were looking for. We asked to be taken back to ship early but he didntunderstand. We are two 80 year olds and were injured due to the horrible potholes. We wish we had not gone.

Guide/tuk tuk driver was in training and did not speak English. Therefore, partnered with another driver who kept coming back to tell what we were seeing. The drivers were very nice, but could not answer any questions because I did not understand our English. It was frustrating for us and not as described by Viator

This safari offered a glimpse into the national park which contains local birds, deers,an assortment of creatures & the highlight was seeing elephants. Set your expectations since this is not a “safari” like in Botswana or S. Africa with the big 5. The roads are really rough & hard on the back but our driver & guide did their best to keep us safe & point out the highlights. The park is about an hour drive each way from the cruise port but we made it in plenty of time. Many of the animals were far away so hard to see or photograph but it’s an outdoor adventure which we always enjoy
