Enjoy a unique and fascinating journey of discovery of Yalumba’s Cooperage; the only on-site winery Cooperage in Australia and one of five in the world. Our Cooperage experience begins with a short introduction of the winery and our family owners the Hill-Smiths. Enjoy a rare insight into the craft of wine barrel making, a tradition that has been happening at Yalumba for over 100 years. Depending on the time of year you will likely see firsthand the Coopers hard at work preparing or maintaining wine barrels for Yalumba’s fine wines*. Return to our Wine Room for a tasting with our Ambassador of five wines from our portfolio, featuring varieties iconic to both Yalumba and the Barossa.

It was an amazing experience to walk through the Cooperage and have a one-on-one with the man who makes the wine barrels. The service matches the wine at Yalumba, both outstanding.

The whole estate is remarkable. Highly recommend the Copperage tour, you will certainly appreciate how much work goes into a good bottle of wine. Yallumba means from all around the area, meaning the grapes are sourced from the local Barossa region and turned into beautiful quality wine. The tour also includes a sophisticated tasting and cheese platter. Such a wonderful opportunity to experience wine making at its best. Thank you to Steph and Kym (mouse) for being so attentive and showing us around the complex.

Very nice tour well presented by Mel, love the whole place fortunate to have nice weather too 23°C. The wine tasting was excellent however for $120/pax wish could have more than tasting plate maybe a nice slices of warm meat or poultry or a few more cheeses too

Beautiful setting. We did the cooperage tour. Our amazing guide was very knowledgeable in the process as was the cooperage team. Even though we aren't wine connoisseurs we were made to feel special & hard to choose fave wine as all so good.

Don’t let the big name fool you. This was a bespoke and personal experience. Very warm and friendly, with exceptional gardens to enjoy. A range of wines for all budgets. Highly highly recommend. Our host Amanda was particularly fabulous. Will be back!

I took my mother for the cooperage tour and we loved every second. Tracy who guided us through the tour was amazing, full of knowledge about the winery. The winery itself was stunning. Every wine we tasted was just delightful, I already am a fan of Yalumba wine but I’ll be a customer for life now. Thank you Tracy and everyone at Yalumba for giving us such a wonderful day.
