  This was a small group, only three other people were on the tour, besides my husband and myself. Haley drove us to where she thought there would be lights and we were amply rewarded. We talked to some other people who were on different tours and they didn’t have someone who drove them to different spots based on predictions of patterns.. We had a spectacular display, and thanks to Haley who had us wait inside the warm car and then ran and got us when the light show began, we all experienced some incredible magic.

  We drove over an hour out of the city and parked on a frozen lake 😬. The auroras were bright, vibrant, and constantly dancing and moving across the sky into an arch, it was a perfect clear night. Our tour guide Vicky was very knowledgeable and friendly, took lots of photos, make sure you dress well as temperatures dropped to -32 ❄️🩵☃️🥶.. highly recommended

  I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Yellowknife Tours and wanted to share it here. I traveled solo to Yellowknife to celebrate my birthday, and this was my first time booking a tour instead of planning everything on my own. It turned out to be an amazing decision. Everything was very well organized, with a great atmosphere and a friendly, professional, and punctual team. I truly felt supported and welcomed throughout the experience. I would especially like to thank two wonderful team members who made my birthday unforgettable. Mandy went above and beyond, she helped light my candle in −25°C weather and took photos of me in that moment, which meant so much to me. Her kindness truly touched my heart. I also want to give a special thank you to Verda for her warm and caring nature. She surprised me at the restaurant and made sure she arrived on time so we could celebrate my birthday together. That moment is something I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you as well to the rest of the team, even though I may not remember all the names, you were all amazing. I highly recommend Yellowknife Tours to anyone visiting. They are professional, thoughtful, and genuinely care about creating meaningful experiences.

  I decided to kick off 2026 by seeing the Northern Lights, and after doing quite a bit of research, I landed on Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories as the perfect destination. Since I was traveling solo, I looked for a tour I could join and discovered Yellowknife Tours. After reading the reviews and comparing the packages, booking with them was an easy decision.  I chose the Diamond Package, which included four days and three nights at the Chateau Nova. The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The package covered nightly aurora-hunting tours, daytime activities like dog sledding and a city tour, and all meals—everything was thoughtfully planned and seamlessly organized.  The owners, Angela and her daughter Verda, were incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. You can truly feel the care they put into making sure every guest has an unforgettable experience. The guides were equally fantastic—professional, friendly, and able to give tours in multiple languages, which made the group feel inclusive and well supported.  Every aspect of the week was amazing. From the breathtaking Northern Lights to the daytime adventures and the warm hospitality, this trip exceeded all expectations. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the year, and I would absolutely recommend Yellowknife Tours to anyone dreaming of seeing the aurora.

  

  

  

• A trip of a lifetime!

  If you have been debating which tour group to use for your aurora adventure, look no further, Yellowknife Tours is absolutely the best choice. Our family did not use the hotel option as we had already rented an airbnb, however YKT handled all of our activities in YK and it was hands down one of our best vacations ever. We did the following activities: dog sledding, glass etching, snowshoeing, and sport ice fishing. We did the Aurora by bus twice (because we loved it so much the first time), Aurora Station and Indigenous Village. The pickups were reliable and on time. The guides are wonderful. We had Angus for many of our activities, including snowshoeing, and he was the best. We all had so much fun! (myself, and my three young adult kids ages 26, 24 and 21). Verda set us up with the rental gear (a must in December, and even came back with different sizes when our original ones didn't work). The customer service from this family business is incredible. What makes it more special is that you can tell that they really do care about your experience, and want it be the best it can be. I hope to return to YK, and I will 100% use Yellowknife Tours again.

  We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Verda and her wonderful crew—Saxon, Vicky, Hailey, Felix, Jamie, Alvin, and Edgar—for their outstanding service. Through you, we experienced so many exciting winter activities and learned so much about the rich history of Yellowknife. Most memorably, we were able to witness the breathtaking Aurora Borealis in person, and thanks to your dedication and expertise, we captured those magical moments beautifully. We are truly grateful for everything you have done and sincerely thank you all for making our journey such an unforgettable experience.
