Garni temple, one of the most famous historical and architectural monuments among tourists, is located in Kotayk province. It is the only structure preserved in Armenia from the pagan period, dedicated to the god Mihr.
Before reaching the temple, we will have a stop on the way to Charents Arch, from where a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens.
Then we will visit Geghard Monastery (Ayrivank), where according to the legend, from the XIII century the spear with which Christ was pierced was kept here.
As a part of the tour, we will visit the Azat River gorge, where we will see the “Symphony of Stones՛”, a miracle of nature. The natural monument, also known as the ՛՛Basalt Organ՛՛, is famous for its magnificent, seemingly artificial rocks.

Charent's Arch
While passing through the village of Voghjaberd, the architect Rafael Israelyan often noticed that a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens from the nearby hill. And here, in 1957, Israelyan completed the structure he designed, which is called the Mount Ararat Temple. The last line of Yeghishe Charents's poem is engraved in visible large letters on the front entrance. "Go to the world; there is no white peak like Ararat, like the path of unripe glory; I love my Masis mountain." Very soon the place got its new, popular and more widespread name - The Arch of Charents. We start the tour with the viewpoint of Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenia.
The Monastery of Geghard
Geghard Monastery is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank, meaning “the Monastery of the Spear”, originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion. It is believed, that the spear was brought to Armenia by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Now it is displayed in the Echmiadzin treasury. The monastery complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with enhanced protection status.

The guide was very knowledgeable, the driver effective. The food in Garni was OK but overpriced for the quality.

The tour with Anna was truly a wonderful experience. She was very informative and never boring, which made the whole journey even more enjoyable. We visited Garni, Geghard, and the Symphony of Stones, and everything flowed smoothly from start to finish. The views were stunning, the stories were engaging, and it was an overall memorable and enriching tour.

Very good trip! World Heritage monastery and a temple near Yerevan and a lavash bread demonstration. Our guide Yegor is amazing, handling multiple language groups while giving a detailed explanation to each site we visited.

First of all shame on Viator, because we arrived to the meeting point and the staff of the company of the trip told us that Viator didn't sent them our names. They told us if we received the confirmation not from Viator, but from them. We didn't receive from the company. We didn't appear on the list... We had to wait a long time to come a car especially for us. The guide was in a tottaly hurry to minimize the time we lost. The drivers in Armenia drives crazy. They don't respect the signs of circulation and put our lives in danger... The guide took us to a restaurant to one of the touristic point from the country, but the food was terrible and we paid a lot. Like a restaurant of the city center of Yerevan. A "top" one...

Fantastic tour! I was traveling alone in Yerevan and this tour was a real highlight. It was a bilingual tour in English and Russian. We took a comfortable minibus and had a wonderful tour guide named Yegor who has a great sense of humor. The tour was really well timed in that it covers a lot of things but you never feel rushed or overwhelmed and it's not a long tour day at all. The bus is very comfortable. Yegor gave a lot of interesting background about the history of Armenia which I didn't know about all. I am just blown away by it. It's rich and devastating. I am from the US and grew up in MA and live in CA and those states both have a lot of Armenian people and I have some Armenian American friends who were always so proud of their heritage (in a way I don't feel connected at all to my Irish heritage) so I was excited to see their homeland and brag about it (don't worry, I am bringing gifts back!). A small touch I really appreciated is that Yegor plays Armenian music both modern and traditional while you're on the bus traveling between locations. I was able to Shazam a lot of cool music, which what better way to connect to a new place? Finally, the lunch in Garni is really lovely and the restaurant courtyard is so picturesque. The lavash bread making is so cool. By the end of the tour, I made a friend with another solo traveler and we got to hang out and chat after. So it was just all-around lovely tour and I cannot recommend enough!
