What To Expect

1

Step into the fragrant world of Zanzibar’s spice farms, where lush tropical gardens burst with color, aroma, and flavor. Your guided walk takes you through rows of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, black pepper, and turmeric, learning how each is grown, harvested, and used in cooking, medicine, and cosmetics. As you wander, friendly local farmers will crush leaves in your hands so you can smell fresh scents, slice open ripe fruits for tasting, and explain the history that earned Zanzibar the title “Spice Island.” You’ll see how spices are processed and discover rare plants like lipstick fruit and lemongrass. Along the way, enjoy a playful coconut-climbing demonstration and taste fresh tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and jackfruit straight from the tree. The tour ends with an opportunity to buy fresh spices, oils, and teas to take a piece of Zanzibar home. This immersive experience blends culture, nature, and flavor in one unforgettable visit.

A Brilliant experience, Hassan was very informative explaining the history of Zanzibar, and the Spice Village, and also info on the great variety of plants (their uses and natural healing properties) and animals, the trip was full of meeting friendly people and laughter, and songs being sang from the treetops. I highly recommend Hassan as a tour guide and a trip to the village to get a true feel of the culture and essence of Zanzibar. 😄

I traveled to Zanzibar on my own and met Hassan through TripAdvisor. During my 3-day stay, he was not only a great and professional guide, but also became a wonderful friend. I’ll definitely come back to Zanzibar and can’t wait to explore the places I missed together with Hassan.
