  We had a wonderful experience on the Hoonah whale watching tour! The wildlife sightings exceeded our expectations—we saw multiple whales, sea lions, an otter, and even bears along the shoreline. It was an unforgettable adventure for our family. We traveled with our 6-year-old and 18-month-old, and the boat was very family-friendly. The comfortable bucket seats made the ride enjoyable, and one of our favorite features was the covered, enclosed seating area. It protected us from the cold wind while still providing excellent views of the scenery and wildlife. Our kids were able to comfortably watch for animals without getting chilled, which made a huge difference. The crew was great, and the entire experience was well-organized and relaxing. We highly recommend this tour to families and anyone hoping to see Alaska’s incredible wildlife up close!

  Our tour was 10/10. We were met in time, communication with no issues, they gave us a smaller vest for our child, were totally prepared. And the whale watching experience was fantastic! They took really good amount of time at sea, not making excursion any shorter just because we saw a lot of whales. Very good experience with small boat. And it’s in very good condition, looks like new. Loved it!

  This was an incredible company. Young local Husband and Wife team. Beautiful new comfortable boat. Husband is the captain. He was constantly using binoculars to try and spot wildlife and did just an incredible job finding the whales. The whales put on quite a show for us.

  We booked this tour for our family cruise trip. Family owned and operated locals. It was the best excursion that I ever booked. We saw dozens of whales. My favorite was the sea lions. They had coffee and hot chocolate as well as snacks available for us. Maraiya met us and took us to the marina where Jordan took us out. Don’t miss this. It was awesome!

  We had an amazing time with Hoonah Whale Tours. The cruise ship docked late but she was still there waiting for us at the pickup location. We were able to get super close to a humpback feeding! Much closer than the larger vessels booked through the cruise ship and always nice to support a local family business.

  What an incredible trip with Hoonah Whale Tours! The small group setting allowed for us to get up and personal with several orcas (one which fully breached a few times right next to the boat!), humpback whales (several that were bubble feeding!), eagles on the shoreline, and sea lions and otters relaxing on a beautiful day. Thank you Jordan and Mariah for an adventure of a lifetime!

  Incredible day whale watching with Captain Joardan! He knew right where to find the whales and the blueberry muffins and warm coffee also hit the spot! I could have spent all day whale watching, bear spotting and lounging with the sea lions!

  The tour hosts are a nice young family operating a business in Hoonah and they work hard to make your experience a success. We had a treat right from the start as a whale played around in the harbor for a good 10 minutes, showing off. Saw more whales further out and also saw a momma bear and her cub and got close to get a good photo shot. We were very excited to see and hear these whales!

  One of the highlights of our cruise. Mariyah and Jordan were fantastic hosts. There were only 6 of us which was perfect. The boat is spacious and comfortable with a heated enclosed cabin. The twin hull configuration makes for a smooth ride even if the water is a bit choppy. They provided hot drinks and snacks and there is a head onboard. We saw lots of whales, a few bears and some sea lions as well. Mariyah gave a quick tour of Hoonah before we departed. I especially enjoyed talking fishing with Jordan during the trip. I would definitely recommend using this family owned business for your chance to see some beautiful scenery and plenty of whales!

  Yes, just six passengers. It was like taking a whale watch trip with a family member. Great boat with viewing decks on the front and back. Heated cabin with a head, in case you want to get out of the wind or need to go during the 3 hour tour. Within 10 minutes of launching Captain Jordan took us to a spot where several whales were working together, bubble feeding, to captue breakfast. So amazing to see them all come up together, mouths wide open! Wow!! Words just can't describe the awesome experience. With just six passengers, we were incredibly spoiled with muffins and coffee and a captain who would take us where ever we wantd to go. Bonus, we were escorted by a school of porpoises for about 30 minutes. So much fun! We went on two whale watch trips while we were visiting Hoonah. Do them both if you can. Totally AMAZING!
