• Stunning Douro Valley

  The Douro Valley is just stunning. Our guide, Jaoa, was excellent and built education and some humor in to our day. There were just 7 of us, which was perfect. We lined up with only one other small private tour at each of the two wineries, so that made the experience more personal and fun! Super well coordinated day. The food and wine at lunch was great and the river cruise was a perfect hour of relaxation and beauty!

  We took 2 different trips with them so far since we have been in Portugal Both times the most outstanding service but what really makes these tours are the people working for them Enthusiasm, knowledge punctuality and just a really caring personality We had Evo, and Perdro for our first trip EXCELLENT !! Then we had Eduardo and a other man for our trip from Porto to Combria These guys were both top of the line!!! Thank you

  My wife and I scheduled this tour in advance for our recent trip to Porto. We were lucky enough to be paired up with Ivo as our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the local region as well as the broader districts of Portugal. Although the weather was a little rainy and overcast, Ivo quickly got our mind off of that and into the trip. His time working in local vineyards and getting to know many of the people in the Pinhão area of the Douro Valley was evident, as it felt like we were meeting family at each stop. I know that different wineries and restaurants might be selected depending on season and schedules, but we were very pleased with all of the stops along the way. Despite a little rain at our first stop, Teresa at Vieira de Sousa took us on a quick tour of the vineyards and the pressing / blending house. She was very passionate about the history of the family and the farm, as well as the ports that were selected for us to try (a White which was new to me on this trip, a Ruby, and a Tawny). Her descriptions really put the different types of Ports, both broad and vertical, into very easy to understand terms. Next, we went for a peaceful river cruise up the Douro River, then returned for lunch at a great restaurant in Pinhão called Taberna da Ponte. Unlike so many of these types of tours, all the food we were served here was delicious and I would go back for the same things. Finally, we went to the top of the mountain for a visit with Enrique at the Quinta do Cume winery. Here we got to try some of the high quality whites and reds they produce on this farm, including their 2019 Grande Reserva Field Blend, which will be great even 5-10 years down the road. I must say that this was a truly enjoyable experience, and if I were to do it again, I would definitely request Ivo as our guide.

  The communication with this company was excellent. Sandra was the person we booked trip with and she explained everything well. She answered all questions immediately. She kept us up to date on any changes. Our driver Joao was prompt , personable and an excellent driver. We felt very safe in his hands especially on the windy narrow roads in the hills. He was very knowledgeable and his dialogue was entertaining but also very interesting and informative. The tour was more than we expected, the two wineries were excellent, the boat tour on the Douro river was fantastic. We stopped in a small village for lunch and the meal was so good. You had your choice of meals. There was an abundance of food and drinks and the people who served us were so friendly. I would highly recommend this company to any group that would like a first class experience. Mary Jane
