  The tour was guided by Jun Sato! We had a great time exploring the creatures on the hike as well as firefly tours. It was brief, but it was a good memory to chance upon the Iriomote cat on the way home!!

  The small lights twinkling in the dark at once, as if the starry sky had descended to earth, was so moving that I couldn't even speak for myself. It was a special experience that was even more fleeting and will stay with us forever because it was so short. And Yume, the guide, was really wonderful. He showed me exactly what the fireflies were doing and what they were worth, making the moment many times more valuable. It was Yume-san who made me feel safe. I saw flying foxes along the way! It was an unforgettable night that made me want to come and see this view again.

  It was a great opportunity to see the fireflies even though the weather was not good enough. It was a relief to see Shou-chan constantly talking to her kids. I want revenge on another sunny day.

  I joined with my elderly mother. I had heard that it was a mountain road, so I joined it because I was anxious. It was a paved road halfway through, and it was only about five minutes on a slightly ragged road. Perhaps taking into account the age of the participants, they picked us up a little earlier and we were able to go up at a time when we could see the ground. As the sun starts to set, fireflies start to light up, so I'm very happy to be able to see them in the special seats from the beginning!! If it doesn't rain during the day, you can participate in your own sandals, so bug repellent is a must! I can't take pictures to protect the fireflies, but it was such a fantastic and wonderful world that it burned into my mind.

  I joined the Yaeyama Firefly tour in March, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing countless fireflies flickering in the forest felt like looking at a carpet of stars—it was truly magical. The guide was professional and shared fascinating insights about their ecology, making the experience even more meaningful. This is a must-do if you visit Iriomote Island!

  The firefly tour was an amazing experience. Seeing so many fireflies lighting up the forest at night felt almost magical. The guide was friendly and explained a lot about the local nature. Highly recommended if you visit Ishigaki or Iriomote!

  I joined the Iriomote firefly tour and it was truly magical. Walking through the dark jungle at night, suddenly seeing hundreds of fireflies glowing all around us — it’s the kind of moment that’s hard to put into words. The atmosphere was completely otherworldly, like stepping into a fairy tale. Our guide was excellent — knowledgeable about the local ecosystem and made sure we could spot as many fireflies as possible while being respectful of the natural environment. It felt really special to experience something so rare. Honestly one of the most memorable experiences of my entire trip to Okinawa. If you get the chance to do this tour, don’t hesitate — it’s unlike anything else in Ishigaki or Iriomote. Absolutely worth it

  Seeing the fireflies in the nature of Iriomote Island was unforgettable. When they started glowing all at once, the forest looked like a natural illumination. It was a short but very special experience. Highly recommended.

  I participated in the Yaeyama Firefly tour with IRIOMOTE ADVENTURE PiPi, and it was the absolute highlight of my trip. Since these fireflies only appear for a short window from March to May, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the experience exceeded all my expectations. Our guide was professional and shared fascinating insights about the island’s ecosystem. After a short walk into the jungle as dusk fell, we reached a spot where thousands of tiny lights started flickering right above the ground. It looked like a "carpet of light" or a forest version of the Milky Way. I really appreciated that the tour focused on quietly observing the fireflies to protect their habitat. It was so peaceful to just stand there and be surrounded by nature's light show without any distractions. If you are visiting Iriomote during the spring, this tour is an absolute must!
