  We booked it for Friday, April 24. Thursday night after 10:00pm we got a text saying the tour was cancelled. Of course we didn't see this message until Friday morning. We rebooked for Saturday, April 25. Again, Friday night after 10:00pm they sent a text saying the tour was cancelled. So FRUSTRATING and unprofessional. Apparently Alcatraz was closed for dock repairs but you would think a tour company would know that and already have an allotment of tickets.

• Great San Francisco in a Day Tour

  This was a great tour. We did Alcatraz in the morning and San Francisco in the afternoon. At Alcatraz we were able to meet a former inmate, now author of his experiences at Alcatraz. He signed his book and we got a photo! A rare and exciting experience! San Francisco was brought to life for us by our fantastic tour guide, Buddy. I don't believe there is an area we didn't stop at or at least drive by. His vast knowledge of all things San Francisco was incredible! We learned so much as well. We were so glad we booked this tour and did not try to sightsee on our own as we would have missed so much. Highly recommend!!

  Worst Experience. NEGATIVE 5 stars. Booked a tour of SF and Alcatraz. After 10:00pm I was notified the tour was cancelled (I was already asleep so didn’t see the text til I was ready to leave for the tour). Rebooked for the next day. Same exact thing happened again. Message at 10:08pm saying tour was cancelled. Won’t use them ever again!

  I was a bit disappointed because we did not get to see everything that was listed on the itinerary, specifically Nob Hill and haight Asbury, but otherwise it was good.

  Whilst we loved the tour we had a few issues leading up to this. We booked a morning tour with the afternoon at Alcatraz but at around 9pm the evening before our trip we got a message to say that the day had been swapped around and we would be visiting Alcatraz in the morning. I appreciate the terms say they have the right to change things but we had to rearrange our plans to accommodate this. The tour operator was very good and did pay our transport costs to get to the ferry in the morning but things didn’t go smoothly for us. First of all we couldn’t get an Uber so used the tram, this dropped us a 20 minute walk away from the ferry, we had 25 minutes to get there. Thankfully we are fit enough to make it but it was tight. Secondly, we finished Alcatraz around 2 hours before the bus was due to collect us so we were left hanging around until pick up time, he was also 30 minutes late so lots of time wasted. The tour itself was fab and Mike was very knowledgeable but if they change the layout then we should be offered a choice of times to go to Alcatraz as we would have gone at least an hour later. We spoke to two other couples who also felt the same. As I say this is a great trip but would have been a better experience if the original itinerary was kept to.

  Learning the history of the area from our tour guide Buddy. Alcatraz, painted ladies and Lombard Street. The history of Presidio was very interesting. All around enjoyable tour!
