  It’s a hilly walking tour . I was very disappointed on the Al Capone part of the tour . The tour guide’s microphone went out and we couldn’t hear any more of the tour ! I thought he would have asked someone to bring him another mic - he didn’t . After frustration with not hearing the tour , we left .

  Spectacular and historic. Audio tour descriptive and immersive. The yard and particularly the windy, steep pathways were exhilarating.

  While it was a nice view of Alcatraz and the city at sunset, I don’t feel the “night cruise” was any more insightful. There were a few ranger talks at various places, but not engaging enough to have us stay and listen. I was expecting a guided tour where you could talk to and the guide and ask questions at times. The trip itself and the self paced audio guide was well worth the time. Be prepared for a long steep walk to the top (tram available for elderly or disabled) and bring a sturdy rain jacket if you want to ride on top of the open boat.

  Great tour. Learned a lot about the history of Alcatraz. Night tour was awesome because coming home the sunset was happening so the pictures of Alcatraz and San Francisco were even better. Smooth boat ride. Great crew

  It was pretty quick and easy to get on the ferry Headphones were given inside Alcatraz and Ferry ride they told you about history. It was cold and windy and very uphill (tram provided for mobility issues).

  You overcharged me for the family package and there was no disclosure regarding the fact that the Alcatraz cruise would possibly not accept a third party site.

  Lots of walking, wear comfortable shoes! All staff and crew members were very helpful and friendly. We will be returning to do the night tour!
