  These guys know where the fish are. Friendly and knowledgeable guides. Jason and Michael offered great guidance but gave us plenty of space to let us get the experience of fishing on our own. Everyone in the group caught fish, including a first-timer.

  Booked with king of the river for a driftboat/flyfish 5 hr on kasiloff. Our family was a total of 5 with 3 teenage girls. Our guides were Jason and Mike. Both super good guides. We started out at about 11am and were fishing in about a 1/2 hour. Fishing started out slow and we moved to the other side of the river. That is when it got interesting. We were flossing and we immediately started catching salmon. My 1st fish was about 8-9 lbs. We all limited out during our trip. We decided to keep the fish and have them frozen and packed for the plane. Jason and Mike cleaned and filleted the fish on the sandbar we were fishing from. I asked my kids what was their favorite excursion on our Alaska adventure (we did alot) and they all said fly fishing. My kids will have that memory and all the pics and videos forever.   Rusty was our guide, he did a lot of hard work on the front end and the back end. He was very knowledgeable of the river. We were too early to catch the king, but I did catch a dolly. It rained it was cold, it was Alaska. It was amazing from Chicago once in a lifetime. Kristy, the coordinator was amazing. She was very proactive on expectations and communication. The fishing equipment was amazing. They offered us rain suits on board when it started to pour rain. I would definitely recommend this trip, with this team!

  

  

  

  

• Almost the "King of the River"

  Chris maybe close to king but I saw his son bring in a few more fish in the boat next to us, so his son might be the real king. 😆 We met Chris at the dock he was already there gear was ready, but was ready. We jumped on. I didn't realize how busy that river was, but we found a spot. Chris kept in contact with other boats around the river and kept maneuvering to get the right spot the weather was awesome. We caught some fish and had a great afternoon. I'm coming back next year hopefully his son will teach him a couple things 😆 I think you have a better chance of limiting if you go on the early morning tour, but we went more for the fun so we went in the afternoon tour. Great time

  

• Unforgettable 1st Alaskan Fishing Trip with Captain Dean

  I had an amazing time on my half-day fishing trip on the Kenai River with Captain Dean, the owner of King of the River. Dean is a fantastic guide—patient, knowledgeable, and a great teacher. He took the time to explain techniques, share his expertise, and make sure the whole experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Even beyond the fishing, the trip was unforgettable. Cruising the Kenai River, I got to see eagles, seals, and incredible scenery that made the day even more special. Dean’s passion for what he does and his easygoing, gracious personality made the whole trip worth every minute. I can’t recommend King of the River enough. This was my first Alaskan fishing trip, and thanks to Dean and his deckhand, I left with great memories and knowledge I’ll carry forward. I’d book with them again in a heartbeat!

  Our guide Bobby from King of the River was excellent. There were two of us on this trip and we came in with minimal fishing experience and had never fished for salmon before. Bobby knew exactly where to go and while the salmon runs had tapered a bit, we still got our limit of sockeye and silver salmon after a few hours. He was patient with us and a great coach. Bobby took care of everything and we couldn't have been happier with the day. He knew all of the regulations, the proper way to catch, all we had to do was show up and bring a fishing license. If I ever fish the Kenai again, we will for sure charter with King of the River.

  Our family made some fun memories Fishing for Salmon. Bob is an excellent guide and instructor, giving us helpful fishing tips and cheering us on. We enjoyed being on the river and taking in beautiful Alaska . We had the Salmon prepped and took it back with us. We are all looking forward to many delicious meals of Salmon that we caught ourselves!

  The fishing was amazing! Our guides, Jason & Chris, helped us catch all the fish we wanted. They also went above and beyond to be sure we could bring our fish home frozen & packaged for our flight the next morning.

  The owner Dean hires only the best people to run his boats. We’ve used these folks for probably close to a dozen times if we include family member charters. Chis, Jason, several other Captains ( that I have forgotten their names), Dean and their boat hands are all very skilled outstanding in customer service, taking the time to ensure everyone fishes correctly and safely. I would not consider using anyone else for our Kenai River/Kasiloff river charters. These guys provide the very best service one could ask for! We’ve limited out every trip!
