5.00No need to be in a group to enjoy Chicho's experience and his passion for birds and observation. Very nice morning: toucansau meeting, equipment to observe them and very nice place. Excellent Morning Bird Tour With David Lara!

5.00We had a blast on our bird-watching tour with David Lara in early November! David freely shared his vast knowledge of Mindo area birds, their characteristics and behaviors. He was determined to help us moderately skilled birders to see and learn as much as possible. He taught us how to use our cell phone cameras to take pictures using his high-powered spotting scope. David shared lots of information about his lifelong experiences in the local area, and recommended places we could explore with him on our next trip to Ecuador. We hope to return and again stay at the Terrazas de Dana, who booked our very affordable early morning tour and breakfast with David. After the tour David shared the morning’s bird list, photos and videos with us, and we learned more about the Merlin and eBird apps! We highly recommend planning a bird-watching tour with David when you are in the Mindo area.

5.00We had a great birdwatching tour with David. Punctually at 5.20am he picked us up in Mindo and we went on a five-hour tour. We he sighted birds from the car, showed us and explained, was great. We wouldn't have had many encounters with great birds without him. His English is good and the communication optimal. Thank you for this great experience. We can absolutely recommend David as a guide.

5.00This tour alone would have made our whole trip to Ecuador worth it. David’s passion for birds, nature, and Mindo was contagious. He tailored the tour to our interests and filled our day with great conversation, beautiful nature, and delicious food. An absolutely unforgettable experience. He made us so excited to come back to Mindo and we are already talking about which of his tours to do next!

5.00We (a couple) did a one day birdwatching tour with Mindo Birdwatching Expeditions in September 2025. David picked us up promptly just before 6am in the morning and we spent just over 3 hours watching various birds. This was the first time we went on a birdwatching tour and the whole experience was awesome. David came with a professional telescope and his ability to spot birds and allow us to watch them was incredible. It was obvious that David is a first class professional birding expert with an intimate knowledge of birds in Mindo and where/how to spot them; he used bird sounds to get birds to respond so we could find them. We saw numerous birds that David captured on his camera and shared the photos with us at the end of the tour, together with a description of each bird we had seen. We were more than satisfied with our tour with David, and have no hesitation recommending David to anyone interested in going on a birdwatching tour in Mindo. He told us he can do a tour anywhere in Ecuador if requested. Besides taking us on the birdwatching tour, David also transferred us in his vehicle from Quito to Mindo a few days before the tour, and transferred us from Mindo to Quito a day after the tour. He is an excellent careful driver and we felt very safe with him all the time. Thank you David for your services. We look forward to seeing you again on our next trip to Ecuador and the Mindo cloudforest paradise.
