One Day in Elba? Take THIS tour!

5.00We had one day to explore Elba on our Ritz Carlton yacht cruise and I am SO GLAD I booked this private excursion! We were able to squeeze the most out of our limited amount of time and we learned SO MUCH! Our guide Chiara was a GEM: during the drive time, she told us all about the history of this beautiful island, she even had photos of historical sites “then and now”. When we reached our destinations, she walked all around with us, pointing out historical landmarks, taking us inside some of the churches to view the incredible art and architecture..we even stopped at a cafe where her friend works for an afternoon espresso. After meeting up, we drove out to the enchanting and vibrant medieval town of Capoliveri, then to the charming seaside village of Porto Azzurro. We treated ourselves to delicious creamy gelato after hiking partway up to see the old fort and capture incredible views of the harbor. Our driver Christian was excellent also—he even worked in a brief stop for us at Villa San Martino, Napoleon’s country residence, at our (earlier, upon booking) request. After that, we headed back to Portoferraio, and walked to Forte Falcone and Fort Stella, Chiara tirelessly and enthusiastically sharing information the entire time. What an incredible day—and we got so much more out of it because we had Chiara with us. We parted, feeling we were saying goodbye to a friend. Loved this tour! Worth every penny.
