  I had a most wonderful experience with Raghav from Waimate Journeys. I was reluctant to tour privately, but it was well worth it! One can see whatever sight one prefers and not be limited by others' choices. The tour included the admission of all the highlights of the South Island and left plenty of time for exploring if desired. The guide/driver Raghav was easy-going, engaging, and knowledgable about so many aspects of the history, land and culture. Both the van and accommodations were always clean and comfortable, with plenty of snacks and water. I would highly recommend this private tour for either a single traveler or even a small family or group.

  We recently had chance to experience private tour in New Zealand, and I must say the team exceeded all expectations. I've done private tours in many parts of the world, but what made this one stand out was how exceptionally well-organized and flexible everything was. Our guide was attentive, thoughtful, and quick to adjust the itinerary when the weather wasn't accommodating. They also blended our request with the itinerary - we asked to swap the alpaca farm for Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and it turned out to be an amazing experience of New Zealand's unique local wildlife. Even with the limited time, we experience the very best of the South Island. Highlights included helicopter ride over Mt. Cook, the stunning Milford Sound cruise, and the magical Glowworm Caves. Everything was seamless, stress-free and unforgettable.   We booked with Waimate Journeys and took the 5 day New Zealand South Island tour from Queenstown to Christchurch. We were very happy with our tour and guide, Rag! New Zealand is gorgeous and packed full of adventure! We took our tour during the winter months and enjoyed fewer crowds albeit colder temperatures. Rag got to know us and customized our experience based on our interests. For example, my son really wanted to see Kiwi birds so he suggested the Kiwi experience in Queenstown which was a real highlight for him. Dynamic weather means sudden changes in plans and Rag did everything he could to accomodate all our adventure desires. For example, our day near Mt. Cook had variable weather and we really wanted to see if we could take the helicopter ride over the Tasman Glacier. Our scheduled ride would have to be cancelled so Rag checked if we could sneak on an earlier ride. We went straight to the helicoper pad and, much to our luck, got a private tour (other group did not make it) and last ride of the day. We were thrilled - our amazing helicopter ride was a memory we will share for a lifetime. It felt like we were on a movie set. He could have just told us we were out of luck, but he tried everything to make it special for us. We frankly could not ask for more! He was detailed in his information so we knew exactly what to expect. We were busy, but we saw a lot and asked endless questions about New Zealand which he patiently answered for us. Overall, we were very happy with our tour and would visit New Zealand again - maybe going north next time.

  If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in South New Zealand, this 5-day adventure is absolutely perfect! From breathtaking landscapes to adrenaline-pumping activities and unique wildlife encounters, every moment was magical. We started in Queenstown and made our way to Milford Sound, taking in the jaw-dropping scenery along the way—lush rainforests, towering peaks, and mirror-like lakes. The fjord cruise was mesmerizing, with cascading waterfalls, playful dolphins, and dramatic cliffs that felt straight out of a movie. Later, we visited the Te Anau Glowworm Caves, where we floated through dark tunnels illuminated by thousands of tiny glowworms—a truly surreal experience. The next day, we returned to Queenstown for an adrenaline-packed adventure. The jet boat ride was a thrilling rush, speeding through the crystal-clear waters with heart-stopping spins! We also took the Gondola ride up to Skyline Queenstown, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. Watching the sunset from the top was pure magic. From there, we traveled to Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. The alpine scenery was stunning. Along the way, we stopped at a charming lavender farm, a picturesque and fragrant spot perfect for photos and locally made souvenirs and ice cream. One of the biggest highlights of our trip was the helicopter ride over the Southern Alps, landing on a pristine glacier—an absolutely surreal experience! Afterward, we drove to Lake Tekapo, where we experienced the famous stargazing tour. The night sky was unbelievably clear, and seeing the Milky Way stretch across the sky was a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We wanted to go horse trekking through Lake Tekapo instead of the originally planned visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd and sightseeing around the lake, so we asked our guide to adjust our itinerary. They made it happen, and it was absolutely worth it! We embarked on an amazing horse trek with Mackenzie Alpine Horses. The experience was made even better by the kind and passionate people who run it—they truly care for their horses and create such a welcoming environment. Riding through the stunning alpine landscapes, we let the horses drink from the lake while taking in the breathtaking beauty of Lake Tekapo. Trekking through the forest added another layer of adventure, making it an unforgettable experience. After our trek, we took the TranzAlpine Train to Christchurch, often called one of the world’s most scenic train journeys. The landscapes shifted from alpine peaks to lush Canterbury Plains. We spent the night in Christchurch, enjoying the city's relaxed atmosphere and great dining options. The next day, we traveled to Akaroa, a charming coastal town with a strong French influence. There, we took a nature cruise, spotting Hector’s dolphins and fur seals in the sparkling waters. To end the trip on a high note, we visited an alpaca farm, where we got up close with these adorable, fluffy creatures. A special shoutout to our tour guide, Rago, who was incredibly knowledgeable and so kind throughout the entire journey. His insights, local expertise, and warm personality made the trip even more enjoyable! Every single experience was unforgettable. The mix of adventure & nature made for a perfect itinerary.   This private tour across South Island New Zealand was an unforgettable experience. The trip itinerary was thoughtful planned, that too including top activities and destinations. The trip was comfortable, and full of stunning views. From cruising through breathtaking Fjords to relaxing at beautiful lakes, every moment felt special. Our guide RV was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and always ready with great suggestions for places to eat. The accommodation options he gave to choose from was excellent with mix of 5- star and 4- star hotels, ensuring comfortable stay. TranzAlpine train ride was amazing, offering incredible views of mountains and valleys. the stargazing experience was magical, and Milford Sound cruise was perfect way to enjoy nature. Traveling with friends made it even more fun, and this tour was perfect way to explore New Zealand in comfort and style!

  If you are looking for an incredible way to explore New Zealand's South Island, this tour is must! This itinerary was well-paced, offering a great mix of adventure and relaxation. The Alpine beauty of Mt Cook, Lake Tekapo and the iconic Church of Good Shepherd were unforgettable. Driving in a foreign country can be daunting, but our guide made it completely stress-free with safe and reliable driving. We could relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery without worrying about road code, rules, regulation or navigating unfamiliar roads. Knowledgeable and friendly guide shared fascinating stories about New Zealand's history, culture and the history of the places we visited. This tour was everything I hoped for and more.   We had ab unforgettable five-day private tour in Queenstown, thanks to our amazing guide RV. He was incredibly kind and always went the extra mile to make our trip special.   We had an amazing 5-day private tour in Queenstown, thanks to our outstanding guide. He was incredibly kind and always went the extra mile to ensure our trip was perfect. The photos he took of us will be cherished forever. Normally, we handle all our travel plans ourselves, but this guided tour was a refreshing change. We received a complete itinerary well in advance, allowing us to plan our clothing and footwear accordingly for the day. Everything was taken care of, from detailed schedules to punctual transport.
