What To Expect
Himeji Castle
1993年に世界遺産に登録された。 城は、その特殊な建築で知られている。 城の建設は、彼らの防衛体制と政治権力の高度化を表すことになる。 日本一の高さを誇る城で、かつての武家最高権力と軍事力の洗練を物語っていた。 1346年（貞和2年）に赤松貞則が内乱期に築城を開始し、その後多くの者が城を接収した。 異なる所有者の時代に城は形を変えたが、現在見られる城は1909年と同じ形であった。 日本の武家支配が終わり、城主は城を新政府に譲った。 その後、政府はこの城を教育・歴史展示目的として利用することを決定した。 その縁で、現在は城は一般公開されている。
Engyo-ji Temple
圓教寺は書写山山頂にある天台宗の寺院。 山は市の北側に位置する。 天禄元年（970年）に建立された本格的な寺院である。 同じく山腹に建立された京都の名刹とよく似ている。 本館と食堂の木造建築が日本語文化遺産に登録された。 また、トム・クルーズ監督の『ラストサムライ』のロケ地の一つにもなった。 2026年2月5日から2026年3月18日まで、円教寺へアクセスするための初社山ロープウェイが年間メンテナンスのため運休となります。

5.00Harumi was a fantastic guide - very friendly and very knowledgeable. Even weeks before the tour, her communication was outstanding, asking me what we would be interested in seeing, ages and interests of the members in our party, and laying out a thoughtful and perfect itinerary for our day. Her knowledge made our visit to Himeji Castle way more interesting and engaging than if we had just gone by ourselves. We would definitely book again!

5.00Yama was a great guide. He was funny, informative, and kind. He did a great job, accommodating limited mobility in our group and adapting as our needs changed.. yeah I know so much about the castle and the surrounding area and being with him really enriched our experience. I’m traveling with my 13-year-old son and he was easily able to understand Yama’s English and enjoy the experience quite a bit. I strongly recommend this tour for families with children, but also academics with real interest in history and archaeology.
Guided tour recommended for maximum enjoyment at Himeji Castle.

4.00The “Himeji Half-Day Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide” was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Hiromi, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and organized, and made the tour both informative and enjoyable. We learned a lot about the history of Himeji Castle and the surrounding area. The guide explained everything clearly and answered all of our questions. It was great having a private tour because we could move at our own pace and spend more time in the places that interested us most. Himeji Castle was absolutely beautiful, and the views from the top were amazing. We also enjoyed walking through the gardens and learning about Japanese history and culture. I went on this tour with my 26-year-old son, and we both truly enjoyed the experience. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Himeji.

5.00Hiromi Misoi is a very knowledgeable and interesting guide. We enjoyed the experience, including flexibility with the start time, WhatsApp messages and climbing the stairs to the top of the castle. She knows and explains a lot about the plants and flowers.

5.00We had a great experience with Yama exploring Himeji! Right from the jump he started explaining all kinds of things about the area even during our walk to Himeji castle and it became clear we could ask him any questions we had too. He is knowledgeable and pleasant to tour with. At the end we asked for food recommendations to try to local eel variant and he brought us to a shop that specialized in it and that was incredible too. Thank you!

5.00We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for :) Would recommend this tour

5.00Mr. Yama was our guide and gave a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting tour of Himeji Castle, the Koko-en Gardens and sake brewery. He showed us unusual small details in the Castle and explained the history and purpose of various elements. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and I would request Mr Yama again if we come back for another visit.

5.00Yama-San gave us an excellent tour to the castle as well as the Koko-en garden. He responded very well to our pace and drew our attention to many small details. His tip. for the best coffee in Himeji after the tour was also perfect.
