• Flawless Execution of an Incredible Itinerary

  We were a group of 11 people doing a customized 10D 9N trip with overnight stays in Kashgar, Taxkorgan, Kuche, Urumqi and Turpan. The private buses and drivers Lesley arranged for us were absolutely top notch. Clean, non/smoking, spacious. Drivers drove safely and were always on time. Even more important, Lesley arranged for 3 separate top class guides for us. Each knew their localities and related history/culture well. They communicated openly with us. Special mention of Lilly in Kuche, who took 2 of us to the Kuche Museum and brought the exhibits to life with her stories. And Victor in the Urumqi area, who went out of his way to buy watermelon slices for us while we waited for tables at a market restaurant and ice cream during a hot day during jade market shopping. Just a few small examples of all the thoughtfulness he gave our group during the trip. The next time we’re in Xinjiang, there’s no question we will call on Lesley to help us arrange again… and to top it off, turns out Lesley is a local from northern Xinjiang. No middle persons, all local knowledge and hospitality. Can’t thank her enough for making our trip so memorable.

  Tours were organised very well, and it was flexible to choose more comfortable accommodation options. Mini van was very comfortable for the long road trips and the sights that we were brought were nice. Tour guides were very informative about local cultures and the sights that we had visited.

  A group of friends joined the Silk Road Company on a 15D Kashgar/South Xingjiang and Xi’an trip from 25/3 to 8/4/26. In Xingjiang the tour was lead by John. He is a knowledgeable, friendly helpful and so caring as most of us in the group are Seniors. We have a good time enjoying the trip. Hotels are clean and easily accessible to shops, eateries, etc. The driver Mr Ma indeed was very careful and caring. He is always cool and calm. Ms Lesley from the Company came to meet up the group to check how we find the tour. She is really an angel with kindness, humble, care and thoughtfulness towards the group. • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Xinjiang Journey – Outstanding Guides and Perfectly Curated Experience

  We recently completed a multi-day journey across Xinjiang covering Urumqi, Tianshan, Turpan, Shanshan, Kashgar, and the Karakoram Highway, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. A key highlight of the trip was the quality of the guides—both Anwar and Loyik were exceptional and made this journey truly special. Anwar, who guided us through Urumqi, Tiandhan, the Turpan and desert region, was outstanding. He is deeply knowledgeable, Turpan native, and highly professional, with a great ability to bring history and local culture to life. His storytelling and local connections allowed us to go beyond the typical tourist experience. He arranged a memorable visit to Tuyoq Village, a wonderful lunch with a local Uyghur family, and guided us expertly through the Kumtag Desert. Where we had roasted lamb. A particularly enjoyable and unique highlight was a wine tasting experience in Turpan that he organized—relaxed, fun, and perfectly integrated into the day. A pity we overdid it on the wines bit. ;-) The itinerary itself was well designed. Starting in Urumqi, the visit to Heavenly Lake in the Tianshan Mountains was breathtaking. In the Turpan region, we explored the Flaming Mountains, Karez irrigation system, and ancient sites, with a great balance between natural scenery and cultural depth. The overnight train journey to Kashgar added a real sense of adventure. Upon arrival, Loyik took over as our guide for Kashgar and the Karakoram Highway—and he was equally excellent. Loyik is very professional, well-organized, and knowledgeable, with a calm and confident approach that was especially valuable in the more remote and high-altitude parts of the trip. He guided us through Kashgar Old Town, the Id Kah Mosque, and the Xiangfei (Apak Hoja) Mausoleum, providing insightful context and ensuring everything ran smoothly. The drive along the Karakoram Highway was one of the absolute highlights—spectacular mountain scenery, dramatic landscapes, and stunning views of Karakul Lake. Loyik managed this part of the journey with great care and expertise, making us feel safe and well looked after at all times. Overall, the trip was very well organized, with smooth logistics, reliable transport, and excellent pacing. It offered a perfect combination of: • Iconic natural landscapes (mountains, deserts, lakes) • Deep cultural experiences (historic towns, local communities) • Unique moments (train travel, desert exploration, curated local activities) Xinjiang is an incredibly diverse and vast region, and this tour captured its essence beautifully. A big thank you to both Anwar and Loyik—their professionalism, knowledge, and personal engagement made this journey truly unforgettable and pf course Lesley who was behind the overall organization.   We had a great time on this trip! From the vast deserts of Xinjiang to the rich Silk Road history, every stop was eye-opening and enjoyable. We’re already looking into places we missed and plan to return with friends. The porter arrangement at the train station was smooth—great service! The diverse itinerary encompassed the intense heat of Turpan (including fresh grape juice tasting), the exhilarating 4-wheel drive experience through Kumutage Desert, the stunning natural beauty of Kanas Nature Reserve and Hemu Mountain Peak, the majestic Tianshan Mountain Range with Heavenly Lake, culminating in Urumqi. **Guide Excellence:** John's knowledge and experience were evident in his fluent, informative briefings. His attentiveness to our needs, particularly under challenging weather conditions, was commendable. A standout skill was his exceptional photography – John tirelessly used his mobile to capture superb group, couple, and individual photos and videos for us, consistently finding perfect, crowd-free vantage points, which significantly enhanced our experience and efficiency.   The personalised tour we had with our tour guide John was amazing. Knowledgeable and carefully meticulous when explaining the history behind the silk road. Most importantly, John was a great photographer who got all the best angles without rushing any one of us. Attached below is just a sneak peak of our delightful experience and photos of our trip. Ms Lesley had also very thoroughly sent us a detailed plan with all our daily activities. Included in the plan were also some precautions as well as the silk road was extremely hot.   I joined the 7-Day Xinjiang Tour to Kashgar, Turpan and Urumqi. The trip was great. I saw a lot of amazing things and took a lot of photos during the trip. The tour guides were very good and friendly. My travel advisor, Chandler, was very helpful. He provided me all details about trip ahead of time. Chandler also patiently helped me with the hotels and train tickets for me to visit three additional cities after the tour. During my staying in Dunhuang, the travel advisor there, Meiling, was also very helpful. She gave tips about top attractions in Dunhuang and helped arranging a taxi for transportation.
